We feel overwhelmed by external events outside of our control.
If we get pulled into social media,
Into news about things on the other side of the planet,
We can feel helpless.
We can feel utterly helpless and afraid.
And the reminder here is that all of your power resides in the present moment.
There are always things dying and there are always opportunities for things to be born.
Things are born in the present.
Things are born in your hands,
In your environment,
In your immediate surroundings.
Because this is what you can influence now.
When we break a leg,
That leg is weak,
That leg is resting and healing and recalibrating and doing what it needs to do.
And then you got your whole body around that leg that is still strong and that you can use.
And you can use the other parts of the body to fuel the leg.
To fuel the basic systems that run regeneration.
So it's never one side.
It's never one thing.
It's never only the system is failing.
It's system is failing and people are inventing and discovering and sharing things and stepping their game up and organizing and banding together and creating.
And also when things are amazing,
There's the other part that there's something somewhere.
If you're not paying attention,
It might bite you.
So always keep an eye out.
Keep an eye out on both things.
Always.
What can you do in hard times?
And in good times,
Where can you be sort of aware that it's both?
So you don't get too confident.
And there's always things that you can do.
Never,
Never are we helpless.
We are helpless if we feel that we cannot help somebody that is far away.
That is in circumstances completely out of our control.
What is in your control?
It's your breath.
It's your environment.
It's your body.
Take time to take care of yourself so you stay here.
So you endure.
So you keep going.
So you keep flowing.
So you keep growing.
So when the time comes that you can actually do something,
You can actually bend down.
You can actually pick something up.
You can actually speak up,
Breathe,
Go for a distance,
Go from point A to B.
Look for opportunities in this way.
Look for what can you do in your surroundings.
It's the overwhelm.
It's the overwhelm that will get you if you don't pay attention to the present moment,
And your body,
And your breath,
And the immediate things.
Immediate things.
The word immediately.
Now.
Immediate surroundings.
Presence.
Present moment.
Use your eyes.
Don't get your eyes locked up in the screen.
Use them to look around and be like,
Okay,
That can be done.
That can be done.
What am I not doing that I know that I should be doing?
Well,
That's the thing that I can do.
Sitting here on the phone,
I can do anything.
You're just gonna feel,
It's gonna drain you,
And you're gonna feel low.
Because you will feel like you are tapped into lives of millions of people.
And you will feel their fear.
You will feel their grief.
Their helplessness.
You're not helpless.
Nobody's helpless.
A broken leg means the other one is good.
Strengthen the other one.
Strengthen the hands.
Strengthen the breath.
Strengthen the spine.
Clean up your place.
Call people.
Resolve things.
Throw things away.
Make space for yourself.
Make space for whatever comes in the future.
And then ultimately rest.
If you feel helpless after everything,
Then you can rest and prepare for tomorrow.
Because tomorrow you might get an opportunity to actually do something about some of these things.
And you need to be ready when universe throws you a ball to receive it.
