Hi,
Welcome to this guided breath meditation.
I'm taking a moment to settle into a comfortable position here today for our practice.
I'd like to read a famous quote from the poem The Summer Day by Mary Oliver.
Tell me what it is you plan to do with your one wild and precious life.
Beginning to come into this present moment,
Dissolving into a point of stillness,
Allowing the eyes to slowly,
Softly close,
Beginning to connect with your breath.
Just inviting you to bring that reflection along with the breath,
Your one wild and precious life.
And breathing out,
Releasing and softening on the out breath.
Being here with your breath and anything that may be arising.
And one of the practices I would like to lead you through today is a practice of gratitude.
Gratitude for whatever it is that has brought you here,
However you have come here to this moment in time.
Gratitude is one of the most powerful ways to connect to an overarching abundance in our lives.
Becoming aware of everything that we have,
Even the things we may not understand.
Understanding that life has brought us to this moment in time.
It's allowing yourself to receive in this moment,
The preciousness of this day,
This life,
This breath,
This body,
Our minds,
Our individual journey.
Just breathing that feeling,
That feeling into the body and allowing the body to be a reservoir for the abundance you have and that life has brought you here to this very moment in time.
Beginning to visualize the breath as a life form coursing through the body on the inhale,
The subtle rise of the belly,
And on the exhale,
Releasing,
Softening into the surface beneath you.
And here,
Maybe taking a moment to lift one of your hands,
Placing it over the heart,
Or maybe just a little bit of your hand,
Placing it over the heart,
Or maybe both,
Offering up subtle gratitude in your life.
What are you incredibly grateful for in your journey today?
Just sending that,
That feeling,
That sensation,
Maybe a word out into the surrounding surface.
Inviting you to consider the importance of your life here and the connection you have with all living beings.
Now,
Inviting you to send out any love and kindness you would like to offer to someone in your life,
That they may be happy,
That they may be safe,
That they may be well.
And now beginning to send gratitude to someone in your life,
Someone who is very important to you.
May you be happy.
May you be safe.
May you be well.
Continuing to recite in your mind.
Now sending this out into your community,
Both known and unknown.
May you be happy.
May you be safe.
May you be well.
And now coming back here,
Sending out a prayer.
And now coming back here,
Sending that same feeling back into yourself.
May I be happy.
May I be safe.
May I be well.
Now releasing that and just letting yourself drift for a moment here.
Feeling the heaviness of the body against the surface.
And slowly coming back,
Taking a deep breath as you breathe in.
May you feel this abundance of love within you and on the out breath,
Beginning to radiate out that same level of love and kindness into your surroundings.
And thank you for sharing in this practice today,
Practice today,
Allowing yourself to come back and the eyes to slowly open.
