Welcome to the course.
Thank you for joining me.
In this one,
We're going to be talking about the TMJ.
Now,
A lot of manual therapists have mentioned over the years that this can be an overwhelming one to kind of treat.
Maybe the intraoral work can be a little bit overwhelming.
It can make you a little bit shy,
But it's all about learning it very simply and systematically,
Which is what we're going to do in this course.
We're going to go over the anatomy.
Then we'll go over the theory.
Joint mobilization techniques,
Intraoral techniques,
Massage techniques,
And we'll finish with exercises.
This is a painful and debilitating condition that affects millions of people.
So learning this can be so helpful.
It's not only going to help your clients,
But can also help your practice by giving you a niche to work within.
You can work with dentists and because it's such a finite area that you're working in,
You can get quick results and show your clients that you really know what you're doing.
Okay,
So let's start at the beginning.
So you have the TMJ,
Which is the temporomandibular joints.
You have one on either side of your jaw.
Then we have TMDs,
Which are temporomandibular disorders.
This is a group of over 30 disorders that affects the jaw joints,
As well as the muscles that control jaw movement.
Now,
Before we get into the course,
I provided a health history TMJ questionnaire that you guys can use in your clinics or spa,
Wherever you work.
And also I have some 3D renderings of the trigger point diagrams,
Which are really cool.
So once we learn the muscles and learn how the muscles can refer pain into different areas,
Those are good to have in your clinic book,
Or you can even put them up in your clinic.
But without further ado,
Let's get into the course and start exploring everything there is to know about working with the TMJ and TMD,
Temporomandibular joint disorders.
