Welcome!
Do you ever feel that you're behind and that life is moving too slowly and you should be further along by now?
Maybe in your relationships or in your career or maybe a dream that you're chasing?
Well,
This meditation is about releasing that pressure.
You are not behind.
So if you want to join me,
Then maybe if you're sitting in a chair,
You want to sit up straight,
Uncross your legs and put your feet flat on the floor.
If you're lying on the floor,
Then maybe just put your arms next to your body.
What's most important is that you're comfortable.
And I invite you,
If you want,
To close your eyes or,
If that's better for you,
To cast your gaze down.
And we'll start by taking a slow breath in.
Breathing out.
And again,
Breathing in.
Breathing out.
Breathing in.
And letting go.
Maybe even letting out a sigh on the out-breath,
If that feels comfortable to you.
Breathing in.
Letting go.
There's nowhere you need to be right now.
Nobody wanting anything.
This is just time for yourself.
And I want to invite you to think very gently and without judgment about an area of your life where you've been wishing that things would move faster,
Where you feel that you should have been further along by now.
Maybe this is your career,
Or a relationship,
Or your health.
It can even be a goal that you're working towards,
Or a dream that's taking longer than it should.
Just imagine that for a moment.
Bring that into your mind.
And notice where that feeling lives.
Where in the body do you feel that pull,
That quiet pressure that you should be further along than you are?
Maybe you feel a tightness in your chest when you think about it,
Or in your belly.
Not judging or changing it,
Just noticing it,
Where you feel that pressure.
And now I'd like you to take a breath and invite a wiser,
Calmer part of yourself in this moment.
And this wiser,
Calmer part of you has a lot of wisdom,
Because you've navigated hard things before.
You've grown in so many ways that you couldn't have predicted.
And that version of you,
The one that already has come so far,
Is also right here with you in this moment.
Because it's worth considering that everything that has happened in your life,
Every twist,
Every delay,
Every unexpected route,
It has all brought you to this exact moment.
And this moment is not nothing.
This moment is yours.
And consider for a moment how far you've come.
Not in comparison to anyone else,
Just you,
Your own journey,
Your own path.
All the things you've learned,
All the things you've handled,
That version of you that showed up even on the hard days.
And that is worth something.
That is worth a lot.
So just let that sink in for a moment.
All the things that you've accomplished so far,
How far you've come.
And when we slow things down to be present,
Then we stop moving through our lives on autopilot and comparing ourselves to others who have very different circumstances and whose lives we're not always able to see into.
And by taking ourselves into this present moment and acknowledging what's here,
We notice what's actually good,
What we already have.
And we may have been much too busy or too pressured to look for what is already here.
So take a breath in and let any pressure that you've been carrying so far in your day release it all,
Let it soften on the exhale.
So breathing in and letting it all out.
Breathing in and letting all that pressure go.
You don't have to force the next chapter in your life.
You just have to show up fully for this one,
To be present now.
And tomorrow will take care of tomorrow.
And now I'd like to invite you to move into some gratitude together.
Maybe you can think of something in your life right now that you're grateful for.
It doesn't have to be very big.
It can also be a person or maybe a pet that you love very much.
Just imagine that for a moment.
And let that feeling of gratitude settle into your chest.
Breathe the gratitude in.
Let it really be there.
We have so much more than we think that we are grateful or could be grateful for,
Rather than always looking at the things that we do.
We don't have,
There is so much there already.
And here's a thought that I'd like to leave with you.
And it's from the philosopher Lao Tzu.
And he writes,
Nature does not hurry,
Yet everything is accomplished.
Nature does not hurry,
Yet everything is accomplished.
Just let those words settle in you for a moment.
And the seasons don't panic,
The tide doesn't rush,
And yet everything unfolds exactly as it should.
In exactly the right time.
And you are part of that same natural order.
Your life is unfolding.
Your timing is not wrong.
You are right where you need to be.
So take a deep breath in.
And a slow breath out.
And one more breath in.
Let things be as they are.
You are where you need to be.
And then,
As we come to the end of this meditation,
Whenever you're ready,
Maybe taking some deeper breaths,
Wiggling your toes or your hands,
Your fingers,
Maybe rolling your shoulders.
And when you're ready,
In your own time,
There's no rush,
Just opening your eyes.
And thank you for practicing.
Thank you for practicing with me today.
And thank yourself for taking the time to practice.
This benefits you,
But also the people around you.
And remember,
You can always come back to this meditation.
It's always there.
I wish you a wonderful morning,
Afternoon,
Or evening.
Go gently.
Be kind to yourself along the way.
Take care.
