Jaran is a Buddhist teacher and a clinical psychologist specialising in Emotion Focused Therapy. His background is from the Ajahn Chah lineage of the Thai forest tradition, and he spent 6 years as a monk in Wat Pah Nanachat. For Jaran, honest inquiry into the nature of reality and experience is central, and so he draws upon wisdom in whatever tradition it is found - but first and foremost from one’s own direct experience. Jaran is now living in Oslo, Norway.

Very interesting approach to being in the present. I like the example of trying to calm rough water with a flatiron. We don’t quiet the mind, rather it naturally quiets when free of outside stimuli. It’s a paradox because the stimuli are always there, yet I can learn to be like still waters in the midst of the storm. A paradox and a miracle. 🙏🏻💞
