Lección 1
Relationships
Relationships are hard. Let’s start there. From the ones we have with our co-workers to the ones we have with our family members. Yet there’s no more challenging a relationship than our romantic ones. From the highest of highs to the lowest of lows, romantic relationships can bring our the best and worst of us. In this session we will personally contemplate what an ‘ideal’ and meaningful relationship looks like.
Lección 2
Who Taught You How To Love?
If we want to learn to fly a plane we go to flight school and learn from a teacher. But who teaches us how to love another human wisely? This session investigates where our views on relationship came from and if they are still relevant. We’ll end with a contemplation practice that looks at the origins of our beleifs.
Lección 3
The Beginnings Of A Mindful Relationship
Falling in love is easy, staying in love is the real work. And we’re up against it, with minds that wander and triggers that constantly send us into reaction with the people that love us the most. In this session we begin to explore what mindfulness in the context of a relationship is and how we can begin to reclaim our attention and cultivate a deeper connection with our partner.
Lección 4
Your First Relationship
In this session we explore our most important relationship, the one we have with ourselves. We investigate what expectations, prejudices and views we may have bought or bring into a relationship. The more self-aware, present and compassionate we can be with ourselves the more we can understand and love another. Today I invite you to cultivate greater acceptance and wholeness.
Lección 5
Values And Intentions In A Relationships
Values and intentions really sustain a relationship long after the high of first meeting fades away. It gives a relationship strength, purpose and meaning. Through a contemplation practice we explore what we value individually and collectively and how we can cultivate greater depth of our values through our intentions.
Lección 6
The Power Of Presence
This is a no-brainer, we can’t love another if we’re not there. But what can science tell us about being present with our partners and connecting deeply? In this session we’ll explore the science or presence in a mindful connection along with the impact of not being there. We’ll also cultivate greater presence with a concentration meditation.
Lección 7
Listening
Listening to our partners is a powerful exercise in presence and love. When we listen we open up our capacity to understand. And truly meaningful relationships prosper when we understand each other. In this session, I’ll invite you to try a few things out with a partner or a friend as well as utilising a mindful listening meditation to help you become more present to your sense of hearing.
Lección 8
Cultivating Compassion
Compassion is the innate capacity each of us has to not only empathise with another person but to genuinely help them ‘suffer’ less. But it also extends to ourself. In this session I invite you to look at ways you can begin to help the people you love the most suffer less. Through thought, deed or action. Today’s meditation engages our hearts capacity to interconnect and is a powerful practice for it’s cultivation.
Lección 9
Navigating Change
There’s one thing we will all have to experience in our relationships – change. But how can we do so wisely? Without clinging, craving or aversion? This session invites you to explore the nature of change and how with loving kindness we can compassionately meet this challenging but fundamental law of life.
Lección 10
Integrating Into A Relationship
Adding more knowledge is wonderful for our brains but doesn’t always translate to wisdom. Wisdom is experienced. In our final session, we recap the program and look at ways we can integrate the lessons into daily life. We finish with a powerful meditation for the heart that you can practice with a beloved – friend, colleague or partner.
