Welcome.
Today,
I'd like to invite you into a different way of experiencing your breath.
Many spiritual traditions have viewed the breath as something more than oxygen.
It has been described as life itself.
The breath of God,
The spirit,
The life force that animates every living being.
Whether those words resonate with you or not.
Notice this simple truth.
Before your first thought,
Before your first accomplishment,
Before your first step,
There was a breath.
And with every breath since,
Life has continued to flow through you.
Today,
We're going to imagine that each breath is a sacred nourishment for the soul.
Just as we feed our bodies with food.
Perhaps we can feed our inner being with conscious breath.
Find a comfortable position.
Allow your shoulders to soften.
Relax your jaw.
Let your hands rest wherever they feel most natural.
If it feels comfortable,
Gently close your eyes.
Take a moment to simply notice your breathing without trying to change it.
Observe the inhale.
Observe the exhale.
Nothing to fix,
Nothing to achieve.
Simply arriving.
Slowly breathe in through your nose.
Imagine you are receiving something precious.
Not merely air,
But life itself.
As the breath fills your lungs,
Imagine it as the most exquisite nourishment your soul has ever tasted.
Allow yourself to savor it.
Hold it gently for just a moment.
As though enjoying the richness of a beautiful meal prepared with love.
Now slowly release the breath.
As you exhale.
Imagine that nourishment being absorbed into every cell of your body.
Flowing through your face.
You're next.
Your shoulders.
Down your arms,
Across your chest.
Into your heart.
Your abdomen,
Your hips.
Your legs,
Your feet.
All the way to the tips of your toes.
Every cell receiving exactly what it needs.
Let's do that once more.
Slowly inhale.
Receiving the Sacred Nourishment.
Pause.
Savor it.
Allow yourself to fully receive.
And now exhale slowly.
Feeling that nourishment spreading effortlessly throughout your entire body.
Nothing forced.
Nothing rushed.
Simply receive.
One more time.
Inhale.
Receiving.
Holding.
Savoring.
Exhale,
Absorbing.
Allowing every part of you to be nourished.
Now I'll become quiet for a few moments.
Continue breathing at whatever pace feels natural.
Each inhale,
Receiving nourishment.
Each gentle pause savoring.
Each exhale,
Allowing every cell to absorb what has been given.
Trust your own rhythm.
Now begin bringing your awareness back to the room around you.
Notice the surface supporting your body.
Notice the sounds nearby.
Notice the natural rhythm of your breath.
Remember.
Your soul doesn't always need a feast.
Sometimes,
It simply needs a small act of loving attention.
Just a few conscious breaths can become a sacred snack for your spirit.
You don't need a meditation cushion.
You don't need perfect silence.
You don't need 20 uninterrupted minutes.
While waiting in line before a difficult conversation.
Sitting in your car.
Walking through nature.
Or simply when life begins to feel heavy.
Pause.
Take one slow breath.
Receive it.
Savor it.
Allow it to nourish every part of you.
May this simple practice remind you that the sacred is never far away.
It is as close as your very next breath.
When you're ready,
Take one final nourishing inhale.
A long,
Slow exhale.
And gently open your eyes.
Carry this nourishment with you into the rest of your day.
Namaste.
