(Wk 18) Leaping into Unknown - Unleash Your Peace Podcast
by Ellie Shoja
Taking the leap is the hardest, most terrifying thing we do in our lives. Yet without taking the leap, we are doomed to live a life of mediocrity and never reaching our true potential. The truth is, you cannot even know what you're capable of without taking that terrifying leap into the unknown. A year ago, I did just that, and here are the 7 most powerful lessons I learned along the way.

Hello and welcome back to Unleash Your Peace.
My name is Ali Shoja.
I am your host.
I am a positive mindset coach,
A personal transformation expert.
I am a deliberate creator and I am your peace trainer.
And Unleash Your Peace is your peace training.
Every single week we explore a different topic about the internal world and we do that for the sole purpose of helping you look inward.
Because when you look inward,
That's where the source of your creativity lies,
That's the source of your peace,
Your happiness,
Your joy.
You become a deliberate creator when you start creating from that place of the non-physical,
That infinite beingness of who and what you actually are.
You live your best life yet,
The quality of your life improves,
Your experiences on this physical plane improve and you become an uplifter on this physical plane when you do this.
And the entire point of this podcast is help you tap into that space of power,
Your true power.
So today we are back with another topic and this week I want to talk to you about something that I did about a year ago.
It completely changed my life,
Turned my life upside down and then I realized that actually my life was turning right side up at some point during 2018.
So I do want to share this experience with you because most recently one of my friends has done the same exact thing and I know her life has already changed,
Started shifting and it is just going to start changing more and more as a result of this decision.
And what is this decision that she made just last week and I made about a year ago?
And the decision was to take the leap into the unknown.
The unknown,
That place of possibility,
It is so incredibly scary to take that leap,
To jump off the cliff with no safety nets whatsoever.
It is the scariest thing we do and yet if we don't do it,
We never even know what we are being capable of.
I have this theory that we are not actually afraid of falling.
We don't not jump off these cliffs even though we feel like we really want to jump into that place of the unknown of possibility of what we are being capable of.
We don't not do that because we are afraid of falling.
My theory is that a lot of times,
Most of the time,
We don't do it because we are afraid of how big our wings are.
We are afraid of the potential that we carry within ourselves.
We are terrified of actually knowing how powerful we actually are and we don't want to.
To stand out in this really incredibly powerful way.
We don't want to show off,
So to speak,
What we actually are,
The greatness that is us.
We don't want to do that so then we suffocate ourselves with these jobs,
Dead-end jobs with these lives that don't really make us happy and don't go anywhere and we trap ourselves in these scenarios that we are really not happy with.
We feel completely suffocated and trapped by them and yet we are not willing to take that leap.
Why?
Take a moment right now and ask yourself why haven't you jumped yet?
Why haven't you showcased the greatness that is within you yet?
What is holding you back?
And chances are the answer is that you are afraid of what you might find when you go there.
When you allow yourself to take that leap,
You might be afraid of the greatness that you hold within you and that is completely understandable because a lot of people suffer from this.
So if you are standing on that ledge and you're tired of it,
You are tired of just standing there and not taking the leap.
You're tired of,
You're kind of fed up with it.
What do you do?
The short answer to that question is you just jump.
You're not going to ever have enough security in your life to kind of justify that jump.
The ego says not yet.
You're not ready yet.
You're not ready yet.
But if you ask your ego that question of when am I going to be ready?
When am I going to be ready to jump?
A lot of people nowadays in our society are not having kids,
You know,
Because they don't feel ready.
They don't feel like they're grown up enough or they're financially secure enough to have children.
When is it going to be time?
When is it going to be time for you to be that expert that you know you are?
For you to start the business that you know you want to start?
For you to own your authority in the space that you have authority?
When is it going to be time?
When are you going to feel ready?
The ego always says not yet,
Not yet,
Not yet.
You're not ready yet.
You don't have the pieces yet.
And yet when you ask that question,
When am I going to be ready?
It does not have an answer.
There's always an I don't know.
I get this with my clients all the time.
When are you going to be ready to have a fulfilling relationship?
When are you going to be ready to fall in love?
When are you going to be ready to own your success?
When are you going to be ready to be done with school,
To put that book out there,
To write the song you have within you,
To learn the thing that you want to learn?
When are you going to be ready?
Not yet,
Not yet,
Not yet.
And when?
I don't know.
I receive that I don't know answer so often it is tiring to listen to it.
So if you are waiting for permission to jump off that cliff into that unknown,
This episode is when I give you that permission.
First of all,
You don't need permission.
You don't need my permission.
You don't need your parents' permission.
You don't need your boss's permission.
You don't need your spouse's permission.
You do not need permission to own your own greatness.
You can just jump off that cliff right now.
You can just be yourself right now and answer that calling within you right now.
But if you feel like you need permission,
I am here to give that permission to you.
Yes,
You are ready.
You can jump.
So let's talk about that jump.
What happens when you jump?
Because it is scary before you jump and it's scary immediately after you jump.
So this friend of mine who just jumped off the cliff,
She quit her job,
Her corporate job and she has decided to join the Ellie camp of people who just follow inspiration.
And I did this last year and my life has been magical since I did this.
But let me just before I dive into my experience tell you about what happened for my friend because last year she did the same thing.
She went on a retreat,
She came back and she decided she's going to quit her job and follow her passion.
She didn't know exactly what she wanted to do at that time.
She doesn't know now either,
But she didn't know what she wanted to do at that time and she quit from a place of complete frustration.
And when we do things from a place of frustration and anger and upset,
Something really counter to what we want to happen happens,
Which is that we tense up.
So she tensed up,
She freaked out,
She got into a place of fear because,
You know,
Frustration is much closer to fear than it is to hope.
So she got into a place of fear and then they offered her a promotion and she accepted it.
And for the last year she's actually been miserable at her job.
So this year,
What's the difference?
This year she comes to it from a place of clarity.
She comes to it from a place of calm,
From a place of,
You know,
It was nice that I got to spend this last year at this promotion,
You know,
At this new position that taught me all of these new skills and now I am ready.
I still don't know what I'm going to be doing with my life.
I still don't know exactly what this project looks like that I'm pursuing,
But I know the outlines of it.
I know that it has something to do with being of service to the world.
I know it has something to do with consciousness and being an uplifter,
Being a teacher,
Being an educator,
Bringing mindfulness and consciousness maybe into workplaces,
Maybe into different communities,
And so forth.
So she kind of has the outline of what it is she wants to do.
She doesn't know specifically what that is going to look like.
And she's not going to know specifically what it's going to look like until she actually dives into this and starts following that inspired action that we talked about last week with Nilu.
So a lot of calmness,
A lot of groundedness.
She actually texted me today and she said,
It's so strange how calm I am.
Is this normal?
And you know,
This is why I'm doing this episode,
By the way,
Because of that question,
Is it normal for me to feel this calm when I just cut off the source of my income?
And what I have discovered in this last year of following inspiration,
Just living from a place of following inspiration,
Is that we are not supposed to live in these really strange ways that we set up for ourselves,
That we have created this society around.
We're not supposed to live from a place of thinking that our entire source is one person or one job,
For example.
Our source,
The source of the abundance that comes to us is not a person,
Is not a job.
It is the universe itself.
So when we associate,
When we say my source is this job,
We are actually pinching ourselves off from the abundance of the universe.
When I say the source of my health is,
You know,
X,
Y,
And Z,
The source of my happiness is this person,
I am actually pinching myself off from the actual source,
Which is the abundance of the universe.
The universe provides happiness,
Security,
Joy,
Prosperity,
Wealth,
And all of the things that it offers to us.
It gives it to us through many,
Many sources.
If you believe in God,
God speaks to you through many voices.
If you believe in the universe,
Universe provides through many sources.
So we are constantly attracting to ourselves that which we need,
And the universe provides all of the cooperative components for us.
But the problem is we tend to,
From a very young age,
Start associating certain things with certain people.
Our security comes from this person,
Our money comes from this situation,
This person,
This job.
You know,
Whatever we need,
We kind of associate it with individuals rather than realizing that those individuals are cooperative components that the universe is putting into this rotation for us.
So what happened to me last year?
In December 2017,
I had a moment of clarity.
My business,
I have a production company,
I have a media company,
My business was not doing very well.
A lot of the projects I was working on,
They kept getting postponed,
They kept getting pushed back,
The money kept falling through,
And it felt very much like I was swimming upstream.
Things weren't falling into place like they used to when I first started my company.
And so whenever that happens,
Whenever things are hard,
You know,
Things are not supposed to be hard.
We didn't come here to make things hard for us.
So whenever something is attained through a lot of difficulty,
It means we're not aligned with that which we actually want.
So I looked at myself in the mirror and I said,
What are you here to do?
Why is this so hard?
I mean,
Why are things falling through?
Why are they not working out?
And the fact that they're not working out means that you are kind of out of alignment with what you want to do.
So what is it you want to do?
So I'm asking myself this question and I heard very clearly a voice telling me,
You have come to teach,
So teach.
Teach what?
I have no idea.
So all of these things that I have been sharing with you on my podcast,
On my Instagram account,
The Peace Unleashed Instagram account,
All of these things,
I had been talking about these for years with friends,
With private clients,
With individuals,
Always in small group settings or with an individual,
But never on a big scale.
And the vision I had in that moment was me teaching on a big scale.
And this vision actually terrified me.
It took me weeks to kind of come to terms with it.
And when I finally did and when I finally surrendered to it,
I knew that I had to surrender in such a way that nothing was holding me back.
Because the first thing that happens when you try to surrender,
Imagine you just jump off a cliff.
So the first thing you want to do is you want to turn around and grab on to the first thing that you can hold on to.
So you clamor onto something.
And that's what happened to my friend last year when she tried to quit.
She freaked out,
She got really scared,
And then when they offered her a promotion,
She just glommed onto it.
That's the first instinct.
So I knew that if I'm going down this path of teaching,
Whatever that means,
I had no idea what I would even teach.
But I knew if I'm going down this path of accepting this calling,
Whatever it is,
And surrendering myself to it,
I needed to have zero doubt.
So I needed to just jump completely.
Whatever happens,
I needed to jump.
So I made a decision to relinquish,
To give up,
To release all of the doubt,
All of the resistance,
All of that internal negative dialogue.
So I decided I would not carry these things with me forward.
And I literally said to the universe,
Whoever was listening,
Whoever that voice was that told me,
Okay,
You've come here to teach,
So teach,
I said to that voice,
Take me where I need to go.
Flow through me.
I'm opening up the faucet.
Whatever needs to come through me,
Let it come through me.
Bring me in front of whoever needs to hear this.
Use me as a vehicle.
And I surrender my will to you.
And I felt like I was moving not from the driver's seat to the passenger seat,
But from the driver's seat into the back seat.
And what unfolded for me over the course of the next year was nothing but just miraculous events one after another.
I ended up giving my apartment,
My car,
I moved my stuff into a storage unit.
I literally didn't know where I was going to live from one month to the next.
So I just literally started just going wherever I was called to go.
And I ended up driving around the US for about four months.
I ended up in Canada.
You saw my journey in Vancouver,
Canada.
That's where this Instagram account started.
The Peace Unleash Instagram account started up there when I was writing up there.
And I was there for six months.
And then I came back.
I still didn't know where I'm going to end up.
And I've been moving around in LA quite a bit and just following wherever it feels like I need to go.
And it's a very strange way to live.
And it's a very strange thing to do in your 30s because by the time you're in your 30s,
You're supposed to be just not living in this way.
You're supposed to be settled down with a family,
With your house,
With this and that.
And here I am in my mid-30s and I am embarking on this incredible experiment of just going wherever it feels like I should be going,
Saying whatever feels like I should be saying,
Communicating whatever is flowing through me.
And that's what that Instagram account is.
The Peace Unleash Instagram account is literally me sitting in front of a notebook and saying what message needs to come through.
What am I supposed to share?
And that's exactly why I even started it in the first place.
So here is the biggest lesson that I have learned during this year.
When we live from this place of associating our security,
Our wealth,
Our abundance,
Our love,
The source of our joy with one person or one group of people,
With one job and so forth,
It is extremely scary to live from that place because then when that one source is eliminated,
Let's say you get laid off from your job.
Let's say you break up with your partner.
When that source is eliminated,
We then fall apart because we don't know how we're going to replenish that.
We don't know where it's going to come from,
Where your money is going to come from,
Where the love is going to come from,
Where the security is going to come from.
Now when you give everything up like I did and I don't have a place to live,
For example,
I don't have a place to go,
I don't have a job,
I haven't been active with my company in a long time,
In a year with my media company.
And when you now live from this place,
Something really miraculous happens,
Which is that the source that I thought was one person,
One client,
One company,
Now that expands and that source becomes every person.
Basically money would come to me from so many different random sources,
Even though I'm not out there advertising my company.
For the past year,
I lived in really incredible locations and I found out that the universe provides in so many different ways.
Anything I needed at any point would just show up at my doorstep,
Literally show up whenever I needed it.
And I realized that there's never any reason for us to stress out over anything because really the universe has your back.
It is constantly bringing to you everything and every person that you absolutely need and want to be in rendezvous with.
We have not come here to suffer and be stressed about what we have and what we don't have and where things are going to come from.
We have not come here to worry about the details.
The details are essentially none of our business.
If you need something,
It's none of your business where it really comes from.
Your business is to know what it is you actually want and then to follow the inspiration,
The inspired actions that will lead you towards that which you want.
Now I'm not saying that you're not going to take any action,
That you're just going to sit around and wait for things to show up.
That does happen.
Things will show up.
But what's going to happen actually is that you're going to sit around,
You're going to want what you want and you're going to connect to the source within you because you don't have stress,
You're not worried and your vibration rises when you don't worry.
When you live from a place of just trusting that that which you want wants you and is on its way to you and you are a cooperative component and allowing that to come to you,
Trust the state of feeling that level of trust is the same state of allowance.
So when you're trusting in the universe,
You're allowing that which you want to come to you.
So when you live from that place,
What's going to happen is you are going to feel inspired to take action.
And then when you do take action,
Every action that you take is leading you directly to that which you want.
So for example,
A friend of mine,
She needed a suitcase and she had zero resistance around it and she didn't associate any one source with this suitcase.
So she just said,
I just need a suitcase.
And she was inspired to go on an online date with some guy she met on match.
Com.
And on this date,
The guy basically told her that he has a suitcase he doesn't have any space for,
Does she want it?
He knows it's a random question.
And it is a random question.
But what are the odds that this person who needs to get rid of a suitcase ends up going on a date with this person who needed to buy a new suitcase and now he gets to get rid of that and she gets to have a new suitcase.
So that is how the universe actually works by bringing to you all of the cooperative components and how do you receive that when you trust that everything is working out for you.
Then you become a cooperative component yourself.
Then when you receive inspired action,
You can actually take that action and move yourself closer to that which you actually want.
When you surrender,
When you take the leap,
The most important thing to do is to raise your vibration every single day.
You cannot afford to wallow in fear.
You cannot afford to give into doubt.
You cannot afford to not know that everything is working out for you.
Those things,
Fear,
Doubt,
All of that resistance,
These are things,
These are luxuries that you cannot afford.
I call them luxuries because somebody who can sit there and be worried about something for two weeks,
They have the luxury to spend two weeks wallowing.
I don't have that luxury and this is one of the lessons that I learned is that when you jump off that cliff,
When you take the leap,
You don't have the luxury to let your vibration sink into that place of fear,
Of shame,
Of doubt,
Of guilt.
You have to do everything you can to raise your vibration.
In this podcast,
We talk a lot about how you can raise your vibration.
You can meditate.
This is one of my favorite ways.
I meditate.
I have really positive self-talk.
If anything is not going my way.
If I feel sense,
That doubt creeping in,
I just constantly remind myself everything is working out for me.
All of the cooperative components are being assembled by the universe for my benefit.
None of this is permanent.
Everything is in motion.
I don't know all of the incredible things that are on their way to me because my vision is limited and nor do I need to know all of those details.
The details are none of my business.
The details are the job of the universe.
All I can do is trust that the universe is bringing these things to me and thereby I turn myself into a cooperative component.
I turn myself into a receiver of these things when they come my way.
This type of positive,
Positive self-talk is so incredibly powerful.
Something else that I will do when something is definitely going wrong,
I like a phrase that one of my first boyfriends ever,
He used this phrase and I thought it was so potent and it just kind of embodies,
Encompassed truth of a situation.
It was a situation where something happened and I don't remember what it was,
But I was kind of freaked out.
I was so upset and freaked out about it and he just was so calm and he looked at me and he said,
Chill out,
Nothing is fucked.
And I thought that phrase was just so incredibly perfect and I use it to this day whenever something happens,
I say to myself,
Nothing's fucked.
It's okay,
Don't worry about it.
And I chill out.
And then the other lesson,
The last lesson I'll share with you is that as I jumped off,
You know,
Initially you feel like you're falling,
I'm falling,
I'm falling and then at some point you realize that you're not falling at all and it almost feels like you're floating because the ground is just so far away,
There's no falling,
You just kind of stabilize in midair and you just hang out in the unknown and I think that's where that moment of complete trust happens.
You know,
When that moment happened for me,
When it clicked in about halfway through 2018 that it doesn't matter what happens,
Everything is working out.
I am not falling.
I am just floating in the unknown.
It's scary because it's unknown but if you are in a place of unknown and you absolutely have certainty that every single thing in that place of unknown is there for your benefit,
Would you still be scared?
You know,
And that's the key here,
Trusting when you get to that moment of complete trust that everything you're encountering in the unknown,
When you jump off,
Everything that you are going to encounter,
Everything that's going to come your way is there to support you,
To guide you,
To bring you to everything that you want.
When you have absolute trust in that,
You are no longer going to be scared of jumping,
Of taking that leap.
You are just going to hang out in the unknown because it holds everything,
All of your dreams and desires.
That is really my wish,
My hope for you.
