Hello and welcome back to Unleash Your Peace.
My name is Ellie Shoja.
I'm a positive mindset coach,
A personal transformation expert,
A deliberate creator,
And I am your peace trainer.
And Unleash Your Peace is your peace training.
It's where we explore a new topic about the internal world in every episode every single week and we do that with the purpose of helping you go inward because when you go inward,
This is where all of your answers are.
This is where your power resides,
Your creativity,
Your joy,
Your purpose in life.
You can find all of these things when you look into yourself rather than outside into the world.
Now,
The interesting thing is when you go inward,
Everything about your life starts improving,
It starts making a lot more sense,
And you start living from your power and from what brings you actually joy and fulfillment.
You become whole,
You become the powerful creator that you are,
That you came here to be,
And you start living your best life yet.
Now,
This is a very special episode of Unleash Your Peace and not just because it's the first of the year.
So welcome back.
Welcome 2019.
I do hope this is going to be the best year you have ever had,
But this is going to be a special episode for us because I am actually changing the format of this podcast during this episode right here,
Right now,
Together we're doing this.
Up until now,
If you've been a listener of Unleash Your Peace,
You know that every single week we've been exploring a different topic through the course of five episodes.
The episodes have been very short and sweet.
They've been about 10 minutes each,
And they've taken us deeper and deeper into that topic.
Now,
What I've been hearing from a lot of the listeners of this podcast is that they've been binge listening to the podcast episodes to the entire week all at once,
And that is quite wonderful.
I do kind of create the episodes in a way that you can binge listen to them and get a lot of value out of them,
But something I've been hearing has been a request for longer episodes.
Can I please put all of that information in one episode instead of five so that they can just listen all the way through?
I have heard your call and I am responding to it,
And I don't know if there were other people who enjoyed the shorter format,
But I've been receiving a lot of comment from people who really wish to have longer format episodes,
And so I am changing the format of this show and we're going to have one episode per week.
I personally am not a huge fan of the hour-long podcast episodes because I don't like to sit down and say I'm going to listen to a whole hour of something,
So I'm going to try to keep them to about 30 minutes each,
So we'll see how that goes.
Now what this new format is going to do for us is also one other thing,
Which is I'm going to be able to interview people on this podcast as well.
There are a lot of really incredible teachers that I have,
People I've worked with and people I meet and communicate with and I really quite admire that I would love for you to hear from because they just provide so much value to me and I think you would really gain a lot of value from hearing from them as well.
So I'm going to be able to bring these people in and interview them and share some of the insights they share that I've benefited from with you.
So I hope that you are open to that.
I'm going to start next week right away doing this and I'm going to bring as many people as possible.
Today,
Since it is the first of the year,
It's January 1,
2019,
I want to talk about setting intentions and I know a lot of us,
A lot of you might have already set your intentions and I know some of you may not have done so already.
When we don't set an intention for where we are going,
It is like we're stumbling around with our eyes closed.
We're getting into a car and we're driving around without knowing where the destination is and unfortunately,
If you do that,
If you get in your car and you start driving around,
You're going to run out of gas and you're not going to get to wherever it is you want to get to.
So very,
Very important for you to know where you are going so that you can eventually get there.
You can finally get there.
Now,
A lot of people get kind of stomped on setting intentions because they've set an intention and maybe they haven't gotten to it so they feel kind of discouraged to set intentions again.
Now,
If you are in that boat,
If you've ever set a goal and you didn't get to it and now you're all nervous about setting goals because you're like,
What's the point?
What's the point of setting a goal?
What's the point of setting an intention?
If I'm not going to get to it,
I'm just going to feel more discouraged.
I do have one thing to share with you that has really impacted my life in a huge,
Huge way and it's a really simple idea and that is this.
If you are not where you said you want to go,
If you haven't gotten there,
That means you're not there yet.
That means you're still on your way.
Think about it.
If you get in your car and you put a destination in your GPS system,
You say,
I'm going to drive from Los Angeles to San Diego and halfway down the road,
Halfway through your drive,
You are in Orange County,
You're in San Clemente,
You're in Santa Ana and you don't like where you are and it keeps going and going and you're not there yet.
What happens if you just say,
Oh my gosh,
I don't think San Diego exists because I've been driving for a whole hour.
I've been driving for a couple of hours and it's not here yet.
It's not here,
So therefore it doesn't exist.
What do you do?
You turn back around and come back home and then you set an intention again.
I'm going to go to San Diego.
I'm going to go to San Diego again.
This time I'm going to get there and again,
You get halfway to San Diego.
You get to San Clemente,
You get to Santa Ana,
You get somewhere in Orange County and again you get discouraged.
I've been here before and I am not in San Diego yet and I've been here before.
This is familiar.
It's so frustrating.
Why do I always get here and why do I never get to San Diego?
Then you turn around and go back home again and you do this dance driving between your home in LA and down to Orange County and back up and down and back up and back down and you do this over and over.
You're never going to get to San Diego because where is San Diego?
San Diego,
I mean if you're familiar with Southern California geography,
You know that San Diego is an hour,
Maybe two hours further south from Orange County.
Yeah,
Of course you've been to Orange County before.
If you've been trying to drive to San Diego from LA because that's on the way.
That's how you get there.
Now you can take a number of different freeways.
You can take a number of different side streets.
You can take a thousand,
A million different paths that take you from LA to San Diego.
One of them might take three hours.
The other one might take 10 hours or five hours or two hours or six hours,
Whatever amount of time it's going to take.
You still have to travel that distance to get from LA to San Diego.
Now we do this in our lives all the time.
We set an intention,
We get on our path,
We get to an area where we don't like where we are and it's not where we want to end up and then we say,
Oh,
Where I want my destination doesn't exist,
Where I want to end up doesn't exist.
I'm so frustrated I'm not there yet.
And then we just stop or we turn around,
We go somewhere completely different and we then assume that we're never going to get to our destination.
Now if that is you,
I hope that you can see how ridiculous this is by looking at that analogy.
If you're going from LA to San Diego,
You have to drive through Orange County.
You have to drive through some areas maybe that don't look that nice.
And it doesn't mean San Diego doesn't exist.
It doesn't mean you're never going to get to San Diego.
Listen,
You could walk from LA to San Diego and you would eventually get there as long as you keep walking.
You keep walking towards it.
You could even crawl from LA to San Diego and you would eventually get there.
You can bike there.
You can take the train.
You can get in a car.
You can hitchhike down to San Diego from LA and eventually you'll get there if you keep on that path.
Now if you've ever set an intention and you are just not there yet,
You can remind yourself,
I'm not there yet.
And the operative word here is yet.
Correct?
So very important that we program our GPS system for 2019 so that we know where we are going.
Now I have a series of questions.
If you go on Instagram on Peace Unleashed,
Many of you are already followers.
Many of you have already seen this post.
If you haven't,
Go check this out and I'm probably going to put this in a blog entry as well because it's so important.
So you can go to peaceunleash.
Com and check out the latest blog on this topic and other questions will be there.
But sit down with a journal.
Really powerful exercise to journal,
By the way.
When you sit down with a journal with a pen and paper,
You actually create from a place of both hemispheres of your brain coming together.
When you're writing with your hand,
The reason you can be more creative is because you're using both sides of your brain.
Very very powerful exercise.
So I don't recommend typing these questions up.
When you're setting intentions,
Always hand write it because it activates your brain in a much more powerful way.
It activates both your imagination and your analytical brain and by doing that you can literally create the experiences you want to create in the future and you create them and because your brain doesn't know the difference between what you're experiencing right now and what you have already experienced and what is in the future because your brain doesn't know the difference between your fantasies and what is literally happening to you right now.
When you are handwriting the experiences that you want to have in 2019,
You are literally in your life creating these experiences and why is that powerful?
Why is that important?
It's important because you already know by being a listener of this podcast,
You already know that we attract to ourselves the experiences we want through the law of attraction because everything we put out into the world is energy.
Our intention is energy.
Our emotions are energy and the energy is vibrational.
So it vibrates at a certain frequency and it is magnetic.
Those are the two qualities of energy,
Vibrational and magnetic.
Now when you create within yourself the experience,
The memory,
The fantasy of what it is you want to happen in 2019 and you literally write it down in your handwriting and by doing that you're activating both sides of your brain,
Both hemispheres of your brain.
So powerful because you are now vibrating physically with the frequency of that already happened and 2019 then has to give you that experience.
It literally has to bring to you whatever it is you created,
You put down on that piece of paper.
So incredibly powerful.
So why don't people do this?
Don't be one of these people who just live life by default,
Who reactively create the life of their fears because when we are just by default creating,
When we are creating reactively,
We are hyper aware of all of the things we don't want in our lives and we create more of that.
So don't be one of those people who does this.
Be one of the people who creates the life that you actually want,
That you want to live.
Be deliberate about it.
I guarantee you,
You will have one of the best years of your life if you just sit down for the next 15,
20 minutes and write down,
Answer these questions and what are the questions that I want you to answer?
First of all,
The first part of this exercise,
We're going to look at 2018 and then we're going to go into 2019.
Why do we do that?
When you look at 2018 and all of the things,
All the blessings that you had,
It allows you more easily to tap into that place of gratitude and we've talked about how powerful gratitude is.
It literally is the energy,
The vibration of creation.
So when we look at all of the things we're grateful for in 2018,
We drum up,
We build up this energy of appreciation within our bodies and then immediately we go into 2019 and what we want to create in 2019,
Guess what?
You're transferring all of that energy of creation into what it is you actually want to create.
So I have 10 questions I want you to answer for 2018 and 10 questions I want you to answer for 2019.
This exercise will take you somewhere between 15 minutes to half an hour,
Maybe longer if you're sitting there and really thinking about and sitting and stewing and kind of dwelling in this positive feelings of appreciation and anticipation.
And I really,
I mean the more time you spend on this exercise,
The more you're going to create this vortex of energy coming toward you,
You know,
So this positive energy building up around you.
So take as much time as you want,
But really give yourself this gift if you haven't done so already.
And if you want,
By the way,
To do this while you're listening to me,
As I say the question,
Just pause this recording and either if you're driving,
You know,
Obviously you can out loud speak the answers to yourself.
If you're driving alone,
You can say it to yourself.
If you're driving with people,
You can take a moment and answer it as a group,
You know,
Take turns and answer it because your voice also carries a lot of power and vibration.
So when you put something in writing and when you voice it,
Give life to it with your voice.
Very,
Very powerful.
If you're writing it down,
It's also a very powerful exercise to go back and read it out loud to yourself.
So first question for 2018,
What were some of the highlights of 2018?
Question number two,
What were the biggest lessons you learned in 2018?
Question number three,
How did you demonstrate your power in 2018?
So think about all of those times when you were in your power.
How did you demonstrate your power?
Question number four,
What were some of the surprising ways in which you succeeded?
Now we succeed all the time and we don't ever take the moment to acknowledge that success for ourselves.
You might make the most perfect toast and you don't take a moment and say,
Oh my goodness,
This is the most perfect toast I've ever made.
You know,
So sometimes I make hot chocolate for myself with no sugar,
Of course,
But sometimes it's just perfect,
You know,
So just taking a moment and appreciating that success.
So question number five,
What brought you the most amount of joy?
So think of the moments when you just felt completely joyful.
Question number six,
Who did you get closer to?
Question number seven,
Which relationships blossomed in 2018?
Question number eight,
What were you willing to let go of?
Very important question.
What wound,
What belief,
What value,
What idea that was no longer serving you,
Were you willing to let go of in 2018?
Now what were you able to let go of?
Sometimes we want to let go of something and it might still be with you,
But what were you able to let go of?
And it's so important to celebrate yourself and feel appreciation for your own ability to let go of something that wasn't serving you anymore.
And when you appreciate something that you were able to let go of,
Guess what?
You will be able to let go of the things you haven't let go of a lot more easily.
Now the last question,
How have you opened up space for expansion in 2018?
So notice how these questions are kind of designed for you to find all of the things that did work really well.
You're not dwelling on the things that you were unhappy with.
There's no point in that.
When you celebrate your victories,
When you celebrate the things that are working,
You're going to get more of that.
When you focus on what's not working,
You're going to get more of that.
So why would you focus on the things that are not working,
That did not go your way,
That you did not appreciate?
Do you want more of that in 2019?
No you don't.
You want to just release those.
So the way we do that is we continually shift our attention to the things that did work,
The things that made us feel gratitude,
The things that made us feel appreciation,
That made us feel powerful,
That made us feel joyful and happy.
So we focus on that.
Now moving into the questions for 2019,
Here again,
You can pause this recording,
You can write stuff down or you can go to peaceunleash.
Com and find the blog post that has these questions in them.
And the first question is,
What are some experiences you would like to have in 2019?
And these can be big things and they can be small things.
You know,
You might want to jump out of an airplane or you might want to eat the most perfect chocolate cake.
So whatever it is,
Just write down whatever comes to you.
Question number two is,
Who are some of the people you would like to meet or befriend?
Question number three is,
What are you looking forward to most in 2019?
Question number four is,
Which relationships in your life would you like to deepen?
Question number five is,
How will you show your love to your loved ones,
To other people?
How can you be an expression of love for others?
And question number six is,
How will you show your love to yourself?
We forget to show love to ourselves.
We forget to show appreciation for ourselves.
So how are you going to do that?
And the thing is,
You can make a list right now of,
Let's say five ways you could show love to yourself.
So when you need love,
When you feel alone,
When you feel separated or disconnected,
When you feel like you don't have love,
You know,
You're not receiving love,
How can you show yourself that you are loved?
Make a list of five things and refer back to it whenever you find yourself in need.
Question number seven is,
What trip or trips are you looking forward to?
So where would you like to go in 2019?
Question number eight is,
Describe in detail the best and happiest day of the year.
Now here is where that imagination of yours comes into place.
Question,
It is sometime during this year,
2019,
And you are having the best day of your life.
You literally have this moment where you're like,
Oh my gosh,
This is the best day of my life.
This is the happiest day of my life.
Now you might not know all of the details of that day,
But write down,
How do you feel?
What does it feel like to feel this fulfilled,
To feel this happy,
To have so much joy in your life?
How are you showing this happiness to the world?
How are you showing it to yourself,
To everybody around you?
Question number nine is,
What will you accomplish this year?
How does it feel when you accomplish it?
So whatever goal you have,
Write down as if you've already done it.
I have already done this thing,
Whatever the school is.
Making a certain amount of dollars in one month or in six years,
A project,
Completing it to completion,
Bringing it to fruition,
Meeting a certain person.
Whatever it is that you want to accomplish this year,
How does it feel once you accomplish it,
When it's done?
Imagine you've already done it,
And what does that feel like?
And the final question is,
Imagine the biggest win of your life taking place in 2019.
What does that feel like?
Something that you've been wanting for a long time.
It happens.
It's this huge win for you,
And it's here,
And it's not even a big deal.
Once you get it,
It's like,
Oh my gosh,
It's almost like it was always yours.
So what does that feel like to receive this win,
To have this win,
To experience it in 2019?
Write it down and really feel it.
And if you are doing this exercise,
Writing it down on a piece of paper,
Handwriting it,
Sit down with this piece of paper and read it out loud.
Because as I said,
Your voice carries so much power.
Writing it makes it real.
Saying it out loud makes it real.
Ninety percent of people are not going to do this exercise.
They're going to continue living their lives by default,
On accident,
Creating what they're afraid of,
Creating the things they don't want in their lives.
Don't be one of those people.
Really take charge of your life.
Be deliberate.
Enjoy the creations that you are putting out into the world and really become the powerful creator that you are.
I am so excited for you for this year.
I'm so excited to see you blossom and to hear about your successes.
I'm so excited for you to accomplish everything that you set your mind and your heart to this year.
So really big assignment for you this week on the first of January 2019.
I do hope you have such an incredible,
Powerful,
Amazing,
Expansive year.
I really have this wish for you.
I love you so much and I want nothing but success and fulfillment and peace and joy and happiness for you in your life.
Next week we'll come back with another topic.
So no daily episodes anymore.
So I hope that this episode for this week is satisfying for you.
And next week I'll come back with another topic,
With another episode,
Maybe even an interview.
We'll see.
But until then,
Do check out Peace Unleashed on Instagram.
This is how I share my love notes with you on a daily basis.
And I am really sorry that I've been taking breaks from that as well.
