Find a position that feels comfortable.
You can close your eyes if that feels right or simply soften your gaze.
For the next few minutes,
There is nowhere else you need to be.
Nothing you need to figure out.
Nothing you need to fix.
Just notice that you are here.
Begin by noticing where your body is.
Making contact with whatever is supporting you.
Your feet against the floor.
Your body against the chair or bed.
The weight of your hands.
You don't need to relax.
Just notice that in this moment something is holding you.
Now bring your attention back to your breath.
Don't change it.
Simply notice the inhale and notice the exhale.
Then,
Very gently,
Allow your exhale to become a little longer.
Breathe in naturally.
And breathe out slowly.
Again.
Breathing in.
And a long,
Unhurried breath out.
When we are stressed,
Overwhelmed or moving quickly through our days,
The body can begin behaving as though everything is urgent,
Even when it is not.
So for these few minutes,
We're giving your nervous system another message.
There is no emergency in this moment.
You can be here.
Notice your jaw.
See if you can let it soften.
Let your tongue rest.
Allow your shoulders to drop even slightly.
Unclench your hands.
Soften your belly.
You don't need to force your body into relaxation.
You are simply creating the conditions for it.
Now notice three things.
First,
Notice one sound around you.
Then notice one sensation in your body.
Warmth,
Coolness,
Pressure,
The feeling of your clothing against your skin.
Anything at all.
And finally,
Notice your breath again.
One inhale.
One slow exhale.
If your mind has been racing,
Planning,
Remembering,
Worrying,
You don't need to make those thoughts disappear.
Let them be there.
And remind yourself.
I don't have to follow every thought that arrives.
Take one more slow breath in and let it go.
Before you return to your day,
Notice how you feel.
Not whether you feel perfectly calm.
Just whether anything has shifted.
Even one percent.
Maybe your shoulders are softer.
Maybe your breathing is slower.
Maybe there is simply a little more space.
That is enough.
Your nervous system does not always need an hour.
Sometimes it needs one small interruption.
One moment of safety.
One breath that says,
I am here and right now I can slow down.
Take one final breath.
And when you are ready,
Gently open your eyes.
Carry a little of the slowness with you into whatever comes next.
