Doug Kremm is a teacher, philosopher, and Buddhist practitioner living in Western Massachusetts. He holds a Ph.D. in Philosophy from Harvard University, and he practices in the Theravada tradition of Buddhism. His most influential dharma teachers have been in the Thai Forest Tradition. He has taught philosophy at Harvard, at Bennington College, and at Deerfield Academy, where he currently teaches a mix of Eastern and Western philosophy. Drawing upon 15+ years of deep study, he focuses on the connections between formal meditation and everyday life, emphasizing virtue and wisdom as central elements of the spiritual path. His teachings present meditation as an organic process that unfolds naturally when appropriate conditions of ease, care, and wise attention are established. When offering reflective guidance, Doug tries to follow the standard of the Forest Tradition: the reflections are informal and unscripted, generated by first clarifying his mind and then speaking directly from the heart, rather than being planned and written out in advance.
