I won't give up on you.
Would that we just surrender peacefully,
Without the breakdown,
But sometimes it just takes what it takes,
Heaving into the void until the emptiness becomes a space for hope,
Little whispers filling in for gentle reminders,
I won't give up on you.
The burden of living a life is also what makes it inexplicably beautiful.
There's no shame in crying for all the ways wisdom has molded itself into your skin,
Your eyes,
Your heart.
We let go in pieces and we rebuild the same way,
Little morsels coming back home to self like affirmations,
I won't give up on you.
Time has always been of the essence,
And the truth is always changing with age.
What once felt like an answer has morphed itself into a new question.
We learn to trust the path ahead mostly on faith,
Knowing that we made it this far on courage,
Little wishes evolving into promises and prayers,
I won't give up on you.
Sure of less things now than maybe ever before,
But one thing is for certain,
Dear body,
Dear spirit,
Dear heart and mind,
Tired,
Broken,
Lonely or sad,
Joyous,
Capable,
Loved and free,
No matter your state of being,
I won't give up on you,
I won't give up on me.
