For this meditation,
We're going to do something a little different and keep our eyes open.
Take a moment to find a comfortable position,
Knowing that it's completely okay to adjust your position at any point.
Begin to slowly gaze around your surroundings,
Perhaps with a sense of wonder,
Like a child in a toy store,
Seeing everything as if for the first time.
Notice which objects draw your attention.
Choose one of those objects to focus on.
Perhaps adjusting your position so you can comfortably rest your gaze.
Allow your eyes to explore this object with curiosity.
You may notice its colours.
You may notice its textures.
Are there parts of the object that are in light or in shadow?
Perhaps it brings up certain memories or emotions.
Acknowledging whatever is arising for you in this moment.
Nothing to change or fix.
Simply being aware of your experience.
Bringing curiosity now to the eyes themselves.
Is your gaze focused or more relaxed?
Is your blinking fast or slow?
You may choose to gently close the eyes,
Noticing how it feels to rest the eyes in this way.
Taking a few moments to allow yourself to rest behind the closed eyes.
Allowing your awareness to move from the eyes to any sounds that you hear.
Perhaps the sound of your own breathing.
Perhaps sounds in the room.
Or you might notice traffic sounds or bird sounds further outside.
Allowing your awareness to gently flow from one sound to the next.
And as we begin to draw to a close,
You might like to take a couple of slow,
Gentle breaths.
And when you're ready,
Gently opening your eyes.
