Lektion 1
Bedroom Recharge: Unplug Your Charger, Reclaim Your Rest
In our fast-paced digital world, the bedroom often becomes an extension of our office, social space, and entertainment hub. However, this intrusion can significantly affect the quality of our rest and overall well-being. In this first lesson, we will focus on reclaiming our bedroom as a sanctuary for rest and rejuvenation. By removing digital distractions from this sacred space, we aim to enhance our sleep quality, reduce stress, and create a peaceful environment conducive to relaxation and healing. Let’s begin our journey to a more mindful and fulfilling life by making our bedroom a tech-free haven.
Lektion 2
Tidying Up Our Notifications: Reclaim Your Attention
In today's hyper-connected world, notifications from our devices constantly compete for our attention, often pulling us away from the present moment. This bombardment of alerts can lead to increased stress and fragmented focus, making it difficult to engage meaningfully with our tasks and loved ones. Prolonged use of devices for developing adolescent brains has shown results in brain scans where the prefrontal cortex is damaged, underdeveloped, or under-active. This means it impacts literacy, creativity, and even empathy.
In this lesson, we will take control of our digital environment by tidying up our notifications. By thoughtfully curating which alerts deserve our immediate attention, we will create mental space and reclaim our ability to engage with our apps on our terms.
Lektion 3
Cleaning Up Our Home Screen: Deleting Apps With Joy
Our digital devices are extensions of our daily lives, often cluttered with apps that we no longer need or use. This clutter can overwhelm us, making it difficult to find what truly serves us. In this lesson, we will apply the KonMari Method to our home screens, focusing on what we truly need and deleting apps that no longer spark joy. By categorizing and organizing our apps, we will create a clean and efficient digital environment that supports our well-being and productivity.
Lektion 4
Unsubscribe Emails & Create Space In Your Inbox
Our email inboxes can quickly become cluttered with newsletters, promotions, and notifications that we no longer find valuable. This digital clutter can overwhelm us and distract us from important messages. In this lesson, we will focus on decluttering our inboxes by unsubscribing from unwanted emails and organizing the remaining ones. By setting specific times for checking emails and managing push notifications, we will create more mental space and reduce the stress associated with a cluttered inbox.
Lektion 5
Deleting Photos With Joy
Our digital photo albums can quickly become overwhelming with thousands of pictures, screenshots, and duplicates. This digital clutter can make it difficult to find cherished memories and create stress. In this lesson, we will focus on decluttering our photo libraries by deleting photos that no longer spark joy. By dedicating just 10 minutes a day to this task, we can make significant progress without feeling overwhelmed. We will also explore ways to organize remaining photos into meaningful categories, creating a more enjoyable and accessible digital photo collection.
Lektion 6
Unfollow And Create A Joyful Social Media Feed
Our social media feeds can become overwhelming with content that no longer serves us or brings us joy. This digital clutter can significantly affect our mental well-being, especially for Highly Sensitive People (HSPs) who feel the impact more deeply. In this lesson, we will focus on decluttering our social media feeds by unfollowing accounts that no longer resonate with us. By dedicating just 10 minutes a day to this task, we can create a more joyful and meaningful social media experience. We will also explore options to hide posts from certain accounts if unfollowing feels too drastic.
Lektion 7
Embracing Digital Freedom: Untethering Ourselves
As we wrap up our 7-day gentle digital detox journey, we will focus on untethering ourselves from our physical devices and exploring ways to be present in the moment. Whether it’s putting away our phones for a couple of hours before bedtime, enjoying a movie with family without distractions, or dedicating a day to being phone-free, we will discover what works best for each of us. By understanding our comfort, stretch, and panic zones, we will learn to expand our capacity for growth and hold ourselves accountable for maintaining these new habits.
