Balancing Seasonal Qi: Winter Wellbeing

Was du lernen wirst
In this course, you’ll learn about the Yin energy of Winter, from the nature-based Taoist perspective behind Qigong and Yin Yoga practices. As we observe in nature, Winter is a time of hibernation, rest, and germination. During these darker, colder months, we are invited to slow down, repair from the impacts of stress, and prepare for Spring growth. The themes of this season highlight the Water Element and the attributes of the Kidney and Bladder Meridians. In each lesson, we will bring the theory to life through powerful-but-simple practices for calming anxiety, recovering from fatigue, and balancing stillness with flow. You’ll discover a variety of practical tools here, including meridian stretches for the lower body, key acupressure points, easy Qigong movements, and more. Join me to practice watering the seeds of wisdom, as we apply nature’s lessons to our own lives. Music Credit: “Ebbs and Flows” by Kevin MacLeod, Licensed under Creative Commons: By Attribution 4.0

Lektion 1
Winter Themes And Qigong Warmups
In this lesson, I will offer an introduction to the Winter season, its energies, and its themes. In nature, this is a time of hibernation, rest, and germination. Winter is also the season of Water, the essential natural element that demonstrates the power of both stillness and flow. After the introduction, we will practice a few gentle Qigong movements that promote fluidity within - hydrating our tissues, lubricating our joints, and encouraging healthy circulation. Lektion 2
Kidney And Bladder Meridians, Plus Acupressure Points
In this session, let’s get to know the main meridians, or energetic pathways, associated with the Winter season. Both Yin Yoga and Qigong are designed to assist with flow, encouraging energy to move freely through the meridians. Here you’ll learn a gentle Qi massage movement and two specific acupressure points that you can use to support your wellbeing during Winter. Lektion 3
Water Element And Rowing The Boat Qigong Form
This lesson explores Taoist ideas about the Water Element and its potent Yin energy. Water is associated with depth, wisdom, adaptability, essential nourishment, and an enduring, (yet soft) power. After reflecting on different roles that water can play, we will practice a Qigong form called Rowing the Boat in the Center of the Lake, embodying a peaceful expression of Water Element. Lektion 4
Pushing Waves Qigong Form And Reflection Prompts
In this lesson, you’ll have the opportunity to reflect a bit more directly on some of the lessons of Winter and Water Element. We’ll begin with another beautiful Qigong form that allows us to play with intentions like flowing with - rather than resisting - change. Then, I will offer a few questions you can use to contemplate your relationship to these themes in this season of your life. Lektion 5
Practicing Wu Wei In A Yin Yoga Pose
In this lesson, we will take time for a long Yin Yoga stretch, and also discover a few new acupressure points in the process. Once we fully settle into the Yin pose, we will consider how to apply the Taoist principle of Wu Wei, or effortless action. Lektion 6
Further Exploration And Tips For Integration
In this last lesson, I will offer a few additional options for exploring Winter energy in your daily life. And, looking back on the practices you’ve tried here, you can brainstorm ways to incorporate your favorites into your routine this season.
