Welcome!
Thank you for joining me,
Dawn Jelly,
Here today as we journey to meet the Queen of Wands.
You may be familiar with her depiction in the Minor Arcana tarot deck.
She has creative passion and determination,
Both of which will inspire you.
She will help you to see yourself in truth.
And to let go of labels that we have given ourselves or those given by others that we picked up through life,
But that do not represent us and do not belong to us.
Those labels are not our truth.
The Queen of Wands will help empower you to begin to rewrite your truth.
Before we begin our journey,
First get comfortable and close your eyes.
Your eyes.
We will start by taking three deep breaths together.
In through your nose and out through your mouth.
In and out.
And then one last time.
In and out.
As you breathe in and out,
You start to feel a breeze blowing refreshingly against your face.
And as you look around,
You realize you are on a narrow dirt mountain path,
Winding through large gray rocks.
You turn to look behind you.
And from your high vantage point,
You can see the path stretch for miles,
Snaking back and forth down into the valley below and beyond.
And like reading the lines in a book,
You realize that this is the journey of your life.
It's ups and downs,
Mountains and valleys,
All of which you have traversed.
Returning to look in front of you,
There are just a few remaining steps until the path disappears over a ridge.
You continue to climb and once at the top,
You can see the path opens out into a plateau.
And you realize that this,
In fact,
Is the top of this mountain.
The view is stunning.
Those ridges and valleys stretching for miles before meeting the horizon,
Where in turn,
Deep blue skies stretch up over and around you.
You feel accomplished with just how far you have come one step at a time.
The previously refreshing breeze breeze is now more blustery,
Racing across the plateau and causing your clothes to flap around in reply to its persistent badgering.
A welcome tonic brushing away the dirt from your long climb.
You continue along the path across the plateau and notice that there is a woman sitting on a large flat rock.
She's looking out over the path as it continues down the other side of the mountain.
As you continue across,
She turns to look in your direction and she gestures for you to come closer with a beckoning hand.
When you are just a few feet away,
She calls out to you.
Welcome traveler to this place of truth.
Come and sit down beside me.
She is confident in the way she speaks and sits with a regal pose.
As you settle onto the rock beside her,
You can see her more clearly now.
Deep chestnut oval eyes look out from smooth almond skin.
Her dark black hair curls up and away from her face into a large mantle held in place by an intricate embroidered gold headband that lays across her brow.
Her embroidered tangerine short sleeved shirt has beaded tassels on the hem that jingle across her belly when she moves.
Her bright colored baggy trousers lead down to simple sandals with leather straps that wrap up and around her ankles.
Her voice is confident and she speaks again.
I have been waiting for you.
I am the Queen of Wands.
Most people know me through my likeness on the minor arcana of the tarot deck next to the King of Wands.
Magnus and I often come here.
She looks down to her feet and at that moment you notice a large velvet black cat with green eyes sitting at attention by her feet.
She continues,
I call this the place of truth because this is where you can see the truth of the real you and not the false truth or labels that have been given to you by others.
These labels did not start off as you but became your identity over the years.
They are words,
Labels and names that other people used to describe you.
Often by people we love,
Sometimes in jest,
But the context no longer matters.
Those words stick to us and become part of us,
Like an official stamp on a document.
Perhaps you were called stupid or clumsy or maybe they are labels you gave yourself like I am not worthy.
But either way,
Like a garment you have worn for many years,
It may feel very much a part of who you are but in truth it is someone else's cloak.
These words are not your truth.
She reaches beside her and grasps a wooden staff fashioned from a silver birch branch firmly in her hand.
Then she stands up in front of you.
The staff's base rests beside her feet and the crystals at its tip sit just above her head.
Bronze wire wraps around the crystals to keep them in place and then continue down the staff,
Contrasting the silver-white birch bark and creating purchase for many bright coloured ribbons that are now excited by the wind rising up from the valley floor behind her.
She gestures to the ribbons.
These represent my truth,
The labels that are mine and as you look closer you notice that there are words on the ribbons and as you read some of the words brave,
Passion,
Love,
Strength,
You feel a surge of energy inside your throat and you realise they speak to your truth as well.
Come and stand beside me,
She requests,
Back to the wind just like me.
You get up and stand beside her and she speaks again.
What labels do you carry that are not yours?
You think for a moment and like a bubble breaking the surface you begin to share.
Once you are finished the Queen of Wands instructs again.
Well done,
Now shout a label.
With all your might let it go on the wind and in the safety of her confidence and with the cleansing power of the wind you let go.
You shout and shout and the word and the label that seemed so heavy and concrete simply dissolves into the wind and is whisked away.
Well done my dear,
There may be more labels for another day but this is a really brave start.
Next you need a staff,
She takes her staff in both hands,
Closes her eyes and as she takes a breath she pulls her hands apart and the one staff becomes two.
Now she stands before you with an identical staff in both hands but you notice that only the original staff has words on the ribbons.
She hands you the second staff and says the ribbons are waiting for you to write your own truth.
What words are the ones you own?
You think for a moment and then begin to share and as you share the words that you speak from your authentic truth begin to appear on the ribbons on the staff.
The Queen of Wands continues,
Now bang your wand on the ground three times and after each bang say add some,
I have arrived.
After a few minutes she speaks again,
There is one more thing before you continue your journey.
The Queen is never fully dressed without her staff and as such you should always have it with you but I have a trick that makes it easier to carry.
Now hold the staff in your hand,
Simply breathe from your heart and ask for it to shrink down and as you watch the staff in her hand shrinks to a small matchstick in her palm.
She takes the tiny staff and places it behind her ear whereupon it shimmers and completely disappears and likewise when you need it breathe from your heart and ask it to return.
Now you try and as she speaks she takes the staff from behind her ear and as she holds out her hand it expands to its full magnificence,
Ribbons once again blowing in the wind.
You hold your staff in front of you just like the Queen of Wands,
Take a deep breath and intend from your heart and as you do so you watch the staff shrink into the palm of your hand.
You take the tiny staff and place it behind your ear and as you do so you feel a tingle as its solid form disappears and then in reverse you take another breath,
Intend from your heart,
Grasp the tiny staff from behind your ear and watch it lengthen back into its original form,
Ribbons once again blowing in the wind.
You stand and look out over the trail,
Proudly holding the staff in your hand and feeling strangely lighter than when you reach the top.
One last time you take a deep breath and you intend from your heart and watch the staff shrink into the palm of your hand which you place behind your ear.
As you start your descent you look back over your shoulder,
She calls after you.
Remember how the acorn comes from the mighty oak.
Your staff came from my staff and is destined for greatness too.
Continue this journey brave sister and pursue your dreams.
As you continue down the mountain the wind that was so blustery on the plateau begins to fade and with each step down the scenery around you begins to fade and the sounds of the mountain begin to fade and after a few more steps you find that you have returned.
When you feel it is time take a stretch if you are able and when you are ready open your eyes and look around you.
Take the passion from the Queen of Wands with you as you continue today.
Return as often as you need to to continue the work you started here today to let go of labels so you may find your real truth.
