Hello friends,
Danessa Gates here.
Welcome to today's meditation,
Releasing the Pressure to Perform.
So I want you to just take a moment to get comfortable,
Sitting or lying down,
However that looks for you right now.
You don't need to sit a certain way.
You don't need to clear your mind.
Just let your body land,
Even if only a small part of you is here.
And if it feels available,
Just begin to notice your breath.
No need to change it or control it.
Just noticing.
You might notice areas of tension,
Maybe some tightness in your chest or your shoulders,
Maybe clenching your jaw.
All of that is okay.
You've likely been holding a lot.
And right now,
In this space,
Nothing needs to be solved.
Nothing needs to be figured out.
Just notice what it feels like to not be actively performing for a moment.
If you're someone who is used to being on,
Used to carrying responsibility,
Used to thinking ahead,
Planning,
Holding everything together,
Your system may not know how to fully let go.
Even here.
Even in stillness.
Because somewhere along the way,
Being the one who holds everything became your identity,
Became who you are.
And not because something is wrong with you,
But because it worked.
It made you capable,
Reliable,
High-performing,
A go-to person.
It made you capable,
Reliable,
High-performing,
A go-to person.
But there's a difference between being capable and being in a constant state of internal pressure.
Your body doesn't need more effort right now.
It needs less demand,
Less expectation,
Less constant internal monitoring,
Less self-punishment.
So just for this moment,
Give yourself permission to set everything down.
Not forever.
Not even for the rest of the day.
Just right now.
You don't have to anticipate anything.
You don't have to prepare for anything.
You don't need to be the one who's on.
Take a moment to let your shoulders drop.
Even slightly.
Let your breath deepen.
Even a little.
Maybe a beat or two.
Truly let your system feel what it's like to not be under pressure.
Because you are not only the version of you that performs.
You are not only the version of you that holds it all together.
There's a part of you that exists without effort.
Without urgency.
Without needing to prove anything.
And that part of you is still here.
So as you start to come back to the moment.
Come back to this space.
You don't need to rush.
You don't need to immediately pick everything back up.
Just notice what feels different.
Even if it's subtle.
Even if it's small.
Because this is where sustainable performance actually comes from.
Not pressure,
But from a system that feels safe enough to stay.
So when you're ready,
You might start to wiggle some fingers and toes.
If it feels good,
Roll out the neck or shoulders.
Bringing yourself back fully to this moment.
And before you move on to your day,
Let a small smile spread across your face.
Just knowing that this version of you exists and is here.
