Welcome back to day four of the Longevity Movement Challenge.
Damian here.
Your chronological age is fixed.
Your biological age is influenced by the choices you make every day.
Including how you move.
Higher cardiorespiratory fitness is associated with lower biological age and reduced risk of chronic disease.
Brief periods of higher intensity can stimulate cardiovascular adaptations in your body and improve overall fitness when it's appropriate for you.
Today,
We lean into cardio along with strength.
Take a moment.
Acknowledge.
Any needs your body has before we move.
Work around injuries.
Moderate so that you and I can practice again tomorrow and the next day.
Okay,
Team.
Start with the feet.
We're just going to step forward,
Cross hand to knee,
Step back,
Step back,
Step forward with the opposite foot,
Cross,
Back,
Back,
Forward,
Cross,
Back,
Back,
Forward,
Cross,
Back,
Back,
Forward,
Cross,
Back,
Back,
Forward,
Cross.
Now you can keep that going.
Or you can start to kick.
Is feeling into the body,
Starting to breathe a little more deeply.
Keeping the chest high.
Taking a breath deep.
Letting it feel good,
Nothing too intense.
And let's do two more on each side.
And last one Okay,
Standing.
Hip distance apart with the feet,
We're just going to reach down,
Touch the floor.
Come up,
Switch sides.
Keeping the chest kind of lifted,
The spine long as you do this.
And then we're going to add an option here to be a little more plyometric with it.
So as you come up,
You just step together,
Step apart.
Step together,
Step apart.
Together.
Together part.
Apart.
Now taking the pace up a little bit if that feels right.
Last five,
Four,
Three,
Two,
One.
Two.
And one.
Good,
Take your feet nice and wide.
We're gonna do some side lunging here,
So you can turn your toes out a little bit.
And let's start with the hands on the hips,
And you can just begin shifting.
One side.
To the other.
Adjust the distance between your feet as needed.
And as you side lunge,
As you deepen,
As you feel into your legs.
Each time you bend.
.
.
Press that knee back a little.
So we're going back and back.
That's it.
Now,
Keep that going.
Bring your hands together in front of your chest like we did a couple of days ago,
And you're just going to press.
Into your fingertip.
Switching on this ring of fire through the arms,
The chest.
And the upper back.
Your shoulder heads are dropping.
Your chest is lifted.
Your breath is deepening.
And let's go for the last couple of lunges.
You see how deep.
You want to go keep the spine long.
Last one on each side.
Good take a rest come all the way up come down onto all fours We're just going to do some bear crawl movements here.
What that means is you start on all fours.
And you might just curl the toes under,
Lift one knee.
Touch opposite hand to knee.
I'm back to center.
Switch to the other knee.
Touch.
Back to center.
That might be enough.
But if it's available for you,
You're gonna lift the knees so you're floating a little bit in bear crawl and touch.
Touch.
Touch just alternating sides Touch.
Touch.
And let's go three more on each side.
Breathing deep.
Balancing,
Allowing your body to adapt and adjust and figure out these movements.
Last one.
Cross your ankles.
Come down onto your back.
We're going to roll all the way down onto our back.
And.
.
.
We're going to do some really slow bicycles so you can bring your hands up to your temples.
Bring your knees up into tabletop.
And just really slow,
Extending left leg,
Bringing left elbow to knee.
And then switch.
Inhale to center.
Exhale to extend.
Allowing a little heat to build.
My body often shakes a little.
Just let your body work.
Low back pressing down into the floor,
Navel drawing in towards the spine.
Let's go three on each side.
Last one on each.
All right,
Rock up to set.
Last movement of the day.
We're just going to press down into the floor,
Lift our hips up.
Now,
If you need to,
You can walk the feet in to make this a little bit more accessible and just press up from here.
The most important part of this movement is that the shoulder heads are not relaxed.
So we're pressing actively with the floor,
Pressing it away.
Now,
If you can walk your feet forwards and we're just going to pulse with the hips.
So release and press.
Let's go for 8.
Last four.
Active arms.
Relaxed jaw,
Relaxed eyes.
Last two.
And go ahead and release.
You are done.
Okay team,
That's it.
I hope you feel your heart beating a little faster.
If you'd like,
Let this evening include a recovery ritual.
These should be a treat.
You might create a longer wind down routine with earlier bedtime or just enjoy a little cold water cycle at the end of your next shower.
Adaptation to exercise happens during the recovery.
Not just during the workout.
So prioritizing rest is equally important.
Tomorrow,
We'll work on one of the greatest predictors of lifelong independence.
Balance.
I'll see you there.
