Welcome back,
Team.
Day seven of the Longevity Movement Challenge.
While this will be our last session in the series,
You likely already noticed the benefit of movement as a lifelong companion,
Hopefully.
The greatest health benefits come not from perfection or doing everything just right,
But consistency.
A balanced movement routine that includes strength,
Mobility,
Cardiovascular fitness,
Balance,
And coordination is clearly associated with healthier aging and greater quality of life.
I know we all want that.
So our last practice will weave it all together.
Ready?
Let's jump in.
Okay,
Come on down to the ground.
Come on to all fours.
Set yourself up,
Knees underneath the hips,
Hands underneath shoulders.
Spread the fingers wide and curl the toes under.
Lift the hips up and back.
Ooh,
That probably feels pretty good.
I know it does for me.
We're gonna do some twisting alterations here,
So take your heels over to the right,
Bend your knees a lot,
Press back,
Stretch back.
Come back to center,
Heel center,
Heels to the opposite side,
Bend the knees,
Press back,
Stretch back.
Come back to center,
Big breath in,
Switching side.
Back to center,
Switching sides.
Big knee bend,
Press back.
For me,
Whichever way the heels go.
That opposite side is the one that gets the deepest stretch and you can just accentuate that and allow it to be where you breathe into.
And then come back to center.
Touch the knees down to the ground.
We're going to come down onto our bellies.
Hands underneath the shoulders or kind of just by the side of the chest there.
And you're going to begin just alternating.
So you'll bend right knee and take that right leg up and over,
Creating a little twist.
And then come back to center,
Bend the opposite leg.
Take that leg up.
And across.
Back to center.
Let's do that one more time,
Just deepening the twist a little.
Maybe you can get that bent leg toe to touch the ground on the opposite side.
If all of that is feeling pretty good.
.
.
And then we can progress a little.
Or you can just stay with this movement.
But if you want,
You twist,
You press up.
You reach a.
.
.
Hips rise.
Hips touch down.
Hands touch down.
Come back onto our belly.
Switching sides so twisting.
Pressing up.
Reaching out.
Hips rise.
Taking your time,
Moving with intention.
Remembering to breathe.
Let's do one more on each side.
I'm starting to link the movements together.
Let them start to feel like one flowing movement.
And last one here.
Good,
Coming back onto the belly,
Settling for a moment.
Taking the arms forwards.
Pointing the toes back.
And we're just going to work with our back chain here,
Building some strength.
In the back body.
You're going to take right arm,
Sweep it out.
And back.
Bend right knee,
Look to kind of magnetize hand to ankle.
Maybe they touch?
Reaching back forward,
Switching sides.
Finding hand,
Ankle.
Releasing,
It says switch again.
And release.
Opposite side.
And release.
Now you can stay with this.
Or we can start to lift things up.
If you can find the ankle.
Kick,
Lift leg,
Lift arm and reach.
And then switch.
Connection.
Kick and lift.
And release.
Let's do one more on each side.
Good.
And release.
Take a moment.
Press up.
Cross the ankles.
Bring the legs forward.
Set yourself up and This is a balance and coordination challenge here,
So you're going to find I'm pleased to balance behind the sit bones.
Make sure there's nothing back behind you.
And you're just going to kind of C-shape your spine.
To begin with,
I would hold the shins around the back.
Curl the shoulders in.
Chin to chest and then just allow yourself to roll back.
And roll forwards a little balance.
So Pilates does this.
Movements which I quite like.
So it's an inhale.
Exhale.
Inhale.
Excel Inhale.
So finding that little balance point,
See shaping the spine.
So the rounder and the more consistent you can make the shape of your spine,
The more fluid,
The movement.
Let's take one more.
And then come back onto All fours.
One last.
.
.
Movement here,
So setting yourself up.
On hands and knees.
We're just gonna curl the toes under,
Lift the knees.
We're going to start small,
So you're just going to take a little step to the right,
Step to the right,
And back to center,
And center,
Step to the left,
Step to the left,
Step to the center.
And center.
And then you can just make that a little bit of a hop.
So we're Switching sides here.
And you can start to make that hop.
A little.
Baker.
So just see how you're feeling in your body today.
And give us a few little hugs.
Let's go one more on each side!
And pause.
Sit back.
Find a comfortable seat and just take a deep breath in.
A full breath out.
Okay,
That's it.
Congratulations.
You are all done.
If you like these little breaks in your day,
Make a personal culture of it.
Anything we do for long enough becomes effortless.
Let's keep moving for energy,
Longevity,
And levity.
Thanks for all your good work this week.
Lots of love.
