Hello,
Friend.
Thank you for joining me today.
I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one who's been feeling slightly overwhelmed by the state of the world.
It's actually really hard sometimes to carry the weight of everything happening in the world.
I don't think we're built for that.
It used to be I'd go out to the driveway and get a newspaper,
And that would be the news for the day.
And then I'd be done until the next morning when another newspaper was out on the driveway.
But now we live in a time where we can absorb bad news almost endlessly.
And after a while,
It can leave us feeling really anxious and angry and hopeless and emotionally exhausted.
I think sometimes without us even realizing it.
Sometimes people feel guilty stepping away from the news,
Like disconnecting means they don't care.
But the reality is that constantly overwhelming your nervous system doesn't make you more compassionate,
Informed,
Or effective.
At some point,
A break becomes necessary.
Quiet becomes necessary.
Some breathing room becomes necessary.
Caring about the world and taking care of yourself are not opposites.
In many ways,
They depend on each other.
So if the world has felt especially heavy lately,
I've got a song for you.
It's a song I wrote called Begin Again.
I promise you,
The headlines will still be there tomorrow.
You were never meant to carry the weight of the entire world every moment of every day.
Sometimes the healthiest thing we can do is step back long enough to reconnect with ourselves.
And reconnect with the people we love.
And the parts of life that still feel real and grounding.
I hope this music gave you a few minutes of space in your day.
A few minutes to unclench a little bit.
To breathe a little deeper.
To remember that protecting your peace does not mean you've stopped caring.
Until we find ourselves back here again,
Take care of yourself.
