The true meaning of Christmas.
What is the true meaning of Christmas?
So much has been written about what the meaning of Christmas really is,
And there's so many interpretations.
And I guess there's something for everyone in that.
We think that at the heart of it all,
There is this gift,
This gift of unconditional love.
That's a love that holds the energy of peace and goodwill for all.
Over thousands of years,
The way of Christmas has been celebrated in many ways that people and humanity have wanted to put their values on it.
And now,
Unfortunately,
Many people think of Christmas as a time to be buying gifts,
Spending lots of money,
Drinking,
Partying,
You know?
And it gets hard.
And because of that,
Many people get depressed.
And many people just kind of write off Christmas.
They say that the average cost of Christmas for each person is around $900.
And $900 today doesn't go near as far as it used to.
And you know,
Then we also,
Gosh,
We do so many things at Christmas that we shouldn't be doing,
Like drinking and eating too much.
And it's sad because we've become politically correct as well.
I mean,
Some people don't even want you to say Merry Christmas because it may offend people.
Now,
Have we come to that point where you can't say Merry Christmas?
I don't know what it would do to a Christmas book like this if I couldn't say Christmas.
It'd be awfully hard.
But we have to get back to what the real meaning is,
And then hopefully no one will be brought down at Christmastime.
If we can really practice that love and that meaning and bring in that light and join in a loving way with our family and friends,
I think it will change the whole way we feel about Christmas.
Now,
I made a list of 26 things you can do to make Christmas more meaningful to you.
One,
You can buy a Christmas gift and give it to someone in need.
Two,
Light a yule log or a candle at winter solstice.
Three,
Meditate on the symbolic meaning of Christmas and the meaning of bringing light forth on the darkest night of the year.
You can call upon the mother's presence and give thanks for her bringing and delivering Christ to the world.
You can recommit yourself to allow the Christ-light consciousness to be alive in your life.
Six,
Spend some time in meditation,
In prayer.
Seven,
Write a happy birthday message to Christ.
Ah,
Number eight,
Look up to the stars and let them inspire you.
Number nine,
Number nine,
Watch an inspiring movie on Christmas,
And there are many of them.
10,
Read a book that inspires you to understand the true meaning of Christmas.
11,
Listen to your favorite Christmas songs.
I always like to go and hear children sing Christmas choirs.
12,
Give a gift of toys for tots.
13,
Make your own spiritual resolution for the coming year.
14,
Perform a random act of kindness.
15,
Forgive someone who hurt you.
16,
Think of doing a cleanse or a fast.
17,
Give a gift to an assisted care center with elderly people there.
18,
Take the time to remember your favorite Christmas and ponder about what made it so special.
19,
Share your love with someone.
20,
Open the door to love yourself as God does.
21,
Help feed those in need.
22,
Pay it forward,
Perhaps by paying for someone else's meal at a restaurant or a fast food place.
23,
Make a spiritual resolution to begin a way to inspire yourself every day in the coming year.
24,
Light a candle and say a prayer for a loved one who's not there.
25,
Take the time to meditate on the true meaning of Christmas.
26,
Make up your own list of things that would make Christmas more meaningful to you.
I hope that you can find the time to think on this,
Ponder on this,
Do at least a couple of these things.
Think of what is important at Christmastime and be grateful,
Be grateful for having the opportunity to be alive and make a difference in the world and call upon that Christ light to be with you,
To clear away all the things that may have been a challenge in your life,
To begin anew as that light increases at this time of year.
Offer everything in your life up to serve and help and do the will of God.
Try to find every day a little time to be still and listen to that inner voice and connect to that light of all lights,
The Christ light within you.
God bless you always and may every day bring that light of Christ into your life and illumination into your very being so that you can enjoy every day as Christmastime.
