Aloha.
I'm Rev.
Cindy Paulus and I thought I'd talk about forgiveness and understanding.
It's a big issue.
You know,
It goes so,
So deep.
There are times in life things happen and we don't really understand why.
And it may really take a lot of trying to understand,
But sometimes there comes a point where you have to just accept and still forgive.
And that's a hard lesson.
I think we may have all gone through this at times.
I know in families this is very possible.
Of course,
You know,
Christ on the cross said,
Father forgive them,
They don't know what they're doing.
You know,
But it also can't be done when you forgive someone in a superior way.
And you know,
I think you know what I'm talking about.
It's like,
I'm going to forgive you because I'm better than you.
And I don't think Christ said it in that way.
He said,
I'm going to forgive you because I'm better than you.
But it's this kind of acceptance that goes along with understanding and then the forgiveness.
We're all on this path,
Very long,
Long path.
And some are in much different places than we are.
Some kind of in the beginning of the path,
You know,
Some have been on it for a while.
And everyone's had different ways of getting through their own issues and sometimes their own pain.
So it's a big thing because if we,
If we cannot accept what someone else has done,
And that can happen easily in this life,
You still need to forgive.
And that's a deep forgiveness.
A forgiveness because we all have issues we're dealing with and we may not ever know what the other person's issues really are.
You know,
We may think we know,
But it's a difficult thing to really know what someone else's path and what someone's going through.
Now,
I think it might be very hard in cases where someone's experienced domestic violence and abuse.
That's really a tough one.
But then there's still the acceptance that this can happen.
And it does happen a lot.
And that you need to be able to get past it yourself and forgive,
Even if you don't have an interaction with the person.
In some cases,
It would not be wise at all to have an interaction with the person,
But you can still go beyond the anger and the resentment and the pain.
You know,
In many relationships,
There's been a lot of that.
These are people that once you may have loved and then you find out stuff you couldn't deal with and that they were beyond what you might have ever guessed like.
And they may have even betrayed you or hurt you in many,
Many ways.
I was in a very bad marriage with domestic violence involved.
Now,
It took me a lot to get out of it.
And I had to,
And I still work on forgiveness.
But the bottom line is,
It's my issue that I have to work on to forgive,
Right?
That forgiveness needs to be released.
And I understand that because,
You know,
There's issues that can build up around it.
It's kind of like scar tissue.
You know,
We get hurt,
We get a wound and then scar tissue forms over it.
Now,
The problem with scar tissue is that it can build up and then other things can't flow.
You know,
You know how that can happen.
So,
Let's just take some time to be aware of the importance of acceptance and forgiveness because it's something we all will go through in life.
Some have more karma to work out and we'll go through more.
Some are trying to work off all their karma in this life and go through quite a bit,
You know,
To try to work that out.
But it's a hard lesson.
But it is a lesson still.
And a lesson is a valuable thing.
A lesson is a learning opportunity.
It's an opportunity to grow and to see and to be in a better state of consciousness than to be a victim.
To be a victim is really a very undesirable state.
You know,
Have you ever met someone who always has felt like a victim and they're always kind of complaining about something and they're always blaming something or other and you see how it's kind of shut them down and after a while it's I don't want to hear about it anymore.
You know,
It's like,
Okay,
Okay,
I got it,
You know.
But that victim consciousness can take hold and can grow roots itself and that is not pleasant at all.
So,
It's really a deep,
Deep subject and sometimes it's taking and it will take a deep,
Deep dive inside of yourself to really get down to the root of the matter.
The Eagles had the song that's getting down to the heart of the matter.
I don't know if you've ever heard the song.
It's a wonderful song.
Got to get down to the heart of the matter.
It's about forgiveness,
Forgiveness.
So,
Let's go into that place where we can go inside ourselves and be aware of where that forgiveness really comes from and how you can actually accept and embrace forgiveness.
So,
Let's take some deep,
Deep breaths and breathing in,
Breathing out,
Breathing a little deeper in,
Holding your breath,
Breathing out,
Breathing out,
Breathing out,
Breathing in,
Holding the breath for about three seconds and breathing out,
Breathing deeply in,
Aligning your body,
Your head,
Your heart,
Your base of your spine,
Letting it all go.
Now,
Just take about a minute to just be aware of your breathing patterns.
And as you do,
Go a little deeper inside your soul,
A little deeper inside your heart of hearts and ask yourself,
Is there something that needs forgiveness?
Is there something that bothers me still and kind of is right there that is causing a problem in my life still?
Something may come up,
Maybe a couple of things might come up.
I just had a couple of things come up.
Now,
Take one,
Choose one of those things and that came up and go and put it on a beautiful,
Beautiful spot on your meditation chalice inside as if you were going to place it there as a flower,
As a flower that needs to be recognized.
And let your inner flower be seen by you.
And look at that flower and how it may not have been growing as beautifully,
As deeply as it possibly could because it was not recognized and not fed love.
And take a moment to go deep inside and send that flower love.
Send that flower deep appreciation and love.
Let that flower feel your love,
Just love that flower.
And send that flower understanding and awareness.
And allow that flower to be free.
Allow that flower to be free from you and any part of you that's held on to whatever was going on with the creation of that thought and that idea within you.
And just let it go now.
Let it go,
Let it go,
Let it go,
Let it go.
Let's see it taking flight and being free from you with love,
Great love.
Breathing in.
Now if there's something more that you need to forgive,
Repeat the process.
Repeat that process and allow yourself to free any of those issues or thoughts or deep things.
It may take,
It may take a lot of time to do this.
It may take a lot of time in one sitting or maybe something you want to do every day for a while till you really start to feel free of that resentment,
That hurt,
That pain,
That anger.
Because that anger is meant to be let go.
That anger sucks away your love,
Sucks away your positive energy.
It's like a black hole,
A black force.
And you don't want that happening in your life.
You my friend are far greater than much more of a beloved than that.
So give yourself the greatest gift,
The gift of forgiveness,
Understanding.
And thank yourself.
Thank yourself deeply for allowing to be free from that pain of hurt and anger.
To allow that true self that you are to be free to be that wonderful,
Perfect reflection of love.
I thank you and God bless you.
