Welcome to this surrendering into sleep meditation.
Why is it that sometimes we can be so tired throughout our day and the moment our head hits the pillow,
It feels like we're awake and everything comes to the forefront of our mind.
Frustration,
Stress,
Worry,
Even just a sense of restlessness and it builds up bigger and bigger.
Why can't I sleep?
I'm going to invite you into this meditation to allow yourself to let go.
So if you haven't already done so,
I'll invite you to close down your eyes and we're going to take three deep breaths together.
In through your nose.
Out through your mouth.
In through your nose.
Out through your mouth.
In through your nose.
In through your nose.
And out through your mouth.
Allowing your body to get heavier and heavier.
Sinking into the bed beneath you.
Allowing yourself to drop deeper onto the mattress,
Onto your pillow.
Heavier and heavier.
And in your mind's eye,
I'd like you to visualize a treasure chest on your bedside table.
And you open up this treasure chest.
And like you could take all of this excess energy,
This pent-up energy,
Whether that's frustration,
Stress,
Worry,
Maybe there's something specific on your heart and mind that you want to put into that treasure chest.
And if there's any resistance,
Know that you can come back to this worry tomorrow.
We're just letting it go for today.
And perhaps you let go of it for good.
But that's not your concern right now.
All that you have to do is let go in this moment.
Tomorrow can take care of itself.
In fact,
It is often when we surrender and we let go,
The divine forces can have space to move in miraculous ways.
You may even wake up in the morning with a creative solution to the very thing that you might be worried about right now.
Or you may wake up no longer feeling this way.
Or maybe divine forces miraculously work things out in your favor.
You don't need to worry about the how.
Right now is a call for you to just let it go.
Letting go.
Into the treasure chest.
Taking a deep breath in.
And as you release,
Allowing your body to sink heavier and heavier into the bed.
And now in your mind's eye,
I'd like you to visualize yourself on a boat,
On a beautiful lake.
Water is such an interesting element.
It can be calm or chaotic.
A bit like life itself.
But today the lake is calm.
Almost like a soothing motion.
And while you do not know where this boat is taking you,
A sense of peace is within you.
This sense of peace resides within you at all times.
Sometimes it's harder to access than others.
But right now it's here.
Noticing that as you're on this boat,
There's nowhere for you to get to.
Nothing for you to do.
Just simply be.
And you look up and you see the moon.
And you feel the energy of the moon pouring down onto you.
As this energy is coming through you,
Can you let go even more?
Can you allow your body to get heavier and heavier?
And you come in from the lake and get back onto land.
And you lay down.
Allowing the earth to nourish your body.
Nowhere to go.
Nothing to do.
Just simply be.
And now I'm going to take some of this energy of the moon and also the energy of the earth combined into this loving,
Nurturing energy.
And I'm going to filter it through your body,
Through your head,
Your neck,
Into your shoulders,
Into your heart space,
Into your stomach,
Your hips,
Your legs,
Your feet.
Nourishing all of you.
Allowing you to let go even more.
Allowing your body to get heavier and heavier.
And allowing divine forces to be with you as you drift off to sleep.
