Welcome back to Wilderness to Wisdom.
Today we're talking about something we all need,
Wisdom.
Not just information,
Not just head knowledge,
But God-given wisdom that shapes how we live.
I want to break this down because there is a difference between knowledge,
Wisdom,
And revelation.
Many people know the Bible but lack wisdom and revelation.
It's great when people can quote scripture and share their knowledge of God's Word,
But that knowledge should never be mistaken for wisdom or revelation.
I understand knowledge as awareness,
Wisdom as understanding,
And revelation as God-revealed wisdom that results in proper application in our lives.
Revelation takes wisdom to another level.
I'm not walking fully in perfection,
But I'm actively walking in correction,
Which means I'm open to receive a revelation so that I can learn to walk in wisdom in every area of my life,
And I want to encourage you to do the same.
James 1 5 says,
If any of you lacks wisdom,
You should ask God who gives generously to all without finding fault,
And it will be given to you.
God invites us to ask Him for wisdom,
And when we ask,
He gives generously,
Not reluctantly and not sparingly.
In my book,
I shared this verse and only wrote a few words about wisdom.
Since then,
I've received deeper revelation in this area.
Once we receive the Holy Spirit,
We have everything we need.
1 Corinthians 1 30 says,
But of Him are ye in Christ Jesus,
Who of God is made unto us wisdom and righteousness and sanctification and redemption.
This is saying that we are made wisdom.
James didn't teach how to walk in who we are as a new creation,
And there's nothing wrong with asking God for wisdom.
As we continue to walk,
However,
We understand that God has already given us wisdom through the Holy Spirit that lives in us,
And we just need to walk in it.
There was a progression.
I understood the basics of what it means to be a new creation in Christ,
But as I continue to walk,
I've been able to move from asking God for wisdom to asking Him to help me walk in the wisdom of God that is in my spirit.
1 John 2 20 says,
But ye have an unction from the Holy One,
And ye know all things.
Unction is saying we've been anointed or chosen.
We have the knowledge and wisdom in our spirit,
And as we continue to walk in it daily,
We can receive continual revelation that will take us to a deeper level of understanding and then produce that fruit in our lives.
James 3 17 says,
But the wisdom from above is first pure,
Then peaceable,
Gentle,
Open to reason,
Full of mercy and good fruits,
Impartial and sincere.
When we receive wisdom from God,
It produces peace,
Clarity,
And good fruit in our lives.
It doesn't cause chaos or confusion.
In fact,
One way to know if something is from God is to look at the fruit it's producing.
It should align with the Word of God.
Many times we tend to be more familiar with wisdom from the world.
1 Corinthians 1 19 says,
For it is written,
I will destroy the wisdom of the wise and will bring to nothing the understanding of the prudent.
This is speaking of the wisdom of the world.
The wisdom of God has nothing to do with how smart you are according to the world.
It is about your ability to understand the knowledge of God and put it to use,
Which is wisdom.
Immersing ourselves into worldly wisdom moves us away from the wisdom of God.
Instead of being bound by strongholds from the world,
We need to have strongholds from the kingdom of God.
On a subconscious level,
So many people haven't developed strongholds about who we are as a new creation,
What we have as a result of that,
And how we're supposed to live.
And we can see that from the fruit.
It's like we have a refrigerator and a pantry full of food,
But are starving to death and just trudging life.
There have been so many times I have made decisions in my own strength only to regret them later.
I had been mistaking knowledge for wisdom and wisdom for revelation,
And much of it was coming from the world.
I've also learned that I need to apply wisdom in every single area of my life,
Big and small.
Even if it's something I know and understand very well,
I no longer assume that I know all there is to know about any topic.
There is always something to be learned.
Now that I know better,
I've been able to see the fruit in some areas of my life.
We still make mistakes in life,
But God will course-correct and put us back on the right track.
And thankfully,
There is no condemnation for those who are in Christ.
When I need to make a decision,
I take my time.
I've learned in my journey that many times acting on impulse is a trick of the enemy to lead me down a wrong path.
This is not the case in every situation obviously,
But it helps to pause and evaluate whether we're dealing with something that requires an immediate response,
Or if we can sit with it for a moment to ensure that we're being led by the Holy Spirit if it's something we're unsure of.
If you think about it,
Many things in life don't require an immediate response.
Some things require no response at all,
And that one is truly a test of the flesh.
Ego and pride can land us in a lot of unnecessary situations that may ultimately cause strife in our lives.
Through it all,
One thing I know for sure is that walking in God's wisdom will always bring better results than we can get on our own.
And finally,
I want to give you some things to reflect on.
Think about areas where you need wisdom today,
Whether it's your relationships,
Your finances,
Your health,
Your work,
Or anything.
Are you rushing ahead in your own understanding,
Or are you slowing down to ask God?
God cares about every area of our lives.
There is nothing too small or too big to bring before Him.
Thank you so much for joining me for this episode of Wilderness to Wisdom.
We'll continue our journey in the next episode.
