Hello and welcome.
My name is Carmella.
I will be guiding you through a meditation to tap into the energy of your root chakra,
Also known as your Muladhara chakra in Sanskrit.
To prepare,
Find a comfortable seat in a tall spine.
Choose a space that feels good to you.
This can be on the floor,
On the edge of a chair,
Or on your couch or bed.
You may sit cross-legged in Sukhasana.
Or on your heels in Thunderbolt.
You could have your legs outstretched in front of you as well if bending your knees is uncomfortable.
If you wish your hips to be lifted,
You can place a pillow or block underneath your seat for support.
Reach the crown of your head toward the sky as you root your sits bones into the surface beneath you.
Begin to soften your gaze.
Or if you feel safe,
Close your eyes.
Bring your attention to your breath.
Where it is in your body.
The natural length of your inhales and exhales.
If your mind wanders throughout our time together,
As it is almost guaranteed to do.
You can come back to your breath.
Anytime.
As an anchor to the present moment.
Shift your attention to the base of your spine.
Become aware of any energy here.
This may be a sensation,
A feeling.
Or a thought that pops in.
This space is home to the root or Muladhara chakra.
The energetic center of stability,
Safety,
And connection to the earth.
Imagine a glowing red light here.
Feel the deep warmth of this light as it holds you close to Mother Earth.
Now imagine this red light growing roots from the base of your spine.
The smell of rich soil greets you as your roots dig deep into the cool,
Soft earth beneath you.
Your glowing roots grow down,
Down,
Down.
Meshing with the roots of nearby trees and plants.
Until you become a part of this root system.
A piece of the whole.
You feel safe.
Held.
And protected.
Slowly begin to retrace your roots up to the base of your spine.
As your awareness travels,
Your roots remain embedded in the earth.
Once your awareness is back in your body.
Take an energetic tug on your glowing red roots in the earth.
Know these beautiful roots are here to stay.
Come back to your breath.
Noticing the natural rhythm.
I offer you these affirmations to repeat silently to yourself as you breathe.
I am grounded.
I am safe.
I am protected.
I am grounded.
I am safe.
Bye.
And protected.
Come back to your body and your physical space.
Notice any sounds around you.
Any sensations in or on your body.
And bite in small movements.
Wiggles of the toes and fingers.
Shakes of the hips and shoulders.
Rocks of your head from side to side.
Take a deep breath in.
And a long breath out.
I am grounded.
I am safe.
Aye.
And protected.
Thank you for joining me today.
For taking time for yourself.
And well-being.
Remember that you are the medicine.
You can always come home to yourself through mindfulness,
Presence,
And joy.
The light in me sees and honors the light in you.
Namaste.
