Welcome.
Take a moment to settle into whatever space you are in right now.
You might be sitting in your car.
Standing in a doorway.
Or resting in a chair.
There is no perfect posture for this.
Just allow your body to be supported.
By whatever is beneath you.
The workday is over.
But if you are like most people,
Your mind has not stopped working just yet.
It is probably still carrying the momentum of the day.
The emails you didn't send.
The conversations that felt difficult.
The problems that are still waiting for a solution.
When we carry a heavy load all day.
Our bodies and minds get used to this weight.
When we finally set it down.
The sudden absence of pressure can feel strange.
Sometimes it feels like anxiety.
Sometimes it feels like an inability to sit still.
You do not have to force yourself to be calm or relaxed right now.
You do not have to clear your mind.
You simply need to acknowledge that the working part of your day has ended.
Take a slow,
Natural breath in.
And as you let it out.
See if you can let your shoulders drop just a fraction of an inch.
Right now,
Your mind might be trying to pull you back into the demands.
It might be reminding you of what you forgot.
Or rehearsing what you need to say tomorrow.
This is what minds do.
They try to keep us prepared.
And right now.
We are going to practice noticing.
That preparation.
Without obeying it.
So bring to mind the biggest unresolved demand from today.
The thing that feels unfinished.
Notice how your mind wants to grab hold of it.
Notice how it wants to fix it.
Plan for it.
Or worry about it.
Now see if you can take one mental step back.
You are not the demand.
You are the one noticing it.
Acknowledge that this demand exists.
That it is real and it is important.
For now,
Consider whether it can wait until tomorrow.
Notice the urge to keep problem solving.
Notice the discomfort of leaving things unfinished.
You do not have to make that discomfort go away.
You simply have to practice tolerating it.
Without picking the work back up.
You are allowed to leave it unfinished for now.
This is the boundary.
You are deciding that the working part of your day is complete for now.
Not because everything is done.
But because you have reached the end of your capacity for today.
Notice how your body feels holding this boundary.
Perhaps you feel a little lighter.
Perhaps you feel tired.
Now that you do not have to hold it all together.
Whatever you notice.
You do not need to change it.
You are stepping out of the role of the worker.
The problem solver.
The one who is on demand.
Are returning to yourself.
Take another slow breath in.
And as you exhale,
Silently say to yourself,
I am off the clock.
And silently say to yourself now,
The day is done.
I am allowed to rest.
For the next several minutes,
There is nothing that you need to do.
There is nothing you need to figure out.
You can simply rest in this space.
Knowing that the boundary is set.
When your mind wanders back to work.
It's okay.
Acknowledge where it's gone and gently remind it.
Not now.
That belongs to tomorrow.
I will leave some space here and return in a few minutes.
Gently bring your attention back to the sound of my voice.
Notice the space around you.
The temperature of the air.
The feeling of the ground beneath you.
You have stepped out of the demand.
You have arrived in your own time.
However you choose to spend the rest of your evening.
While they're in rest.
And connection.
Or simply in quiet.
See if you can allow yourself to be fully here.
When you are ready,
You can slowly open your eyes or bring your focus back to the room.
The working day is complete.
You can move on to the next part of your evening.
