So,
How can your breath help you during stressful moments?
Well,
Your breath is this amazing tool that you have with you all the time to help you bring in balance even during stressful moments.
Some might think,
But I breathe all the time anyway,
So how could it be any different or any help to me?
Well,
Yes you do breathe all the time,
But have you ever paid attention to how you breathe at different times?
When you are excited,
Have you noticed your breath could be quick and light,
It has a very different tone to it.
And when you are angry,
Your breath feels very heavy,
It can often feel very sharp and very fast.
Now,
Take a moment to reflect a time when you have been very stressed.
How did you breathe then?
How do you tend to breathe when you are stressed?
Does it feel more rapid?
Or like me,
Do you tend to hold your breath?
I only realised I do this quite recently.
When we are stressed,
We tend to go into our head and lose connection with our body.
So the next time you find yourself in a stressful moment,
Take a minute to check in with your breath,
Connect with it and let it flow.
Let it be slow,
Smooth and soft.
Do a few rounds of gentle and smooth breathing in,
Breathing out,
Breathing in,
Breathing out,
Connecting to the present moment in its wholeness.
Doing this should help you turn down the volume on the stress you are experiencing.
If you give this a try,
I'd love to hear how it went for you.
Leave me a comment and let me know.
Have a lovely day.
