What is OM?
What is OM?
It's a word that originated from the Upanishads,
The sacred text associated with Vedanta or Hindu philosophy.
It was considered a sacred word,
A means of salvation,
A way to describe the Supreme or universe or Brahman or all that is.
It consists of three letters,
A,
U and M.
A being the sound uttered by every creature when the throat is opened.
M is the sound made when you close the lips and the middle word U signifies the sound being carried from the throat to the lips.
So why chant OM?
When you chant OM or OM you can feel the vibration of the letters in your body.
If you meditate with focus,
Concentrating on the sounds and vibrations of this healing word it helps dissipate negative energy,
Stress,
Anxiety and discomfort from the body.
Listening is good but chanting yourself is even better.
So how do you chant OM?
The way I like to chant is to take a good comfortable breath in and say OM while exhaling.
Let me demonstrate it for you once.
And then exhale OM.
The elongated OM sound at the end will feel like a soothing positive vibration.
You can practice chanting anytime you are alone with eyes open or closed.
Doesn't matter.
If you are chanting while driving,
Operating machinery or have to concentrate on a task please leave your eyes open.
So let's begin.
OM OM OM OM OM OM OM OM OM OM OM OM OM OM OM I'll let the music run now so you can continue chanting in your own time and space.
Thank you for joining me in this healing chant and I hope you have a wonderful rest of the day.
