Morning In The Heron
This spontaneous improvisation was composed & recorded during the LIVE on Insight Timer on March 24th, 2026. By re-connecting to pure essence (present moment), I applied the inspiration from 2 notes (G and E) which I heard prior to the LIVE starting. What came to me was the Chinese pentatonic scale (do re mi sol la). During the improvisation, the music evolved into the Japanese scale (do mi fa la ti) which corresponds directly to the Ryukyuan/Okinawan pentatonic scale. At times, the music even had hints of a Middle Eastern scale. The name of this piece of music came from IT meditator Petah B. who pictured a great white heron moving slowly & standing still, in the reedy shallows of a misty lake. Recommend that if you can, sit with eyes closed and listen to the sound and silence of the notes. Please feel free to listen while reading, doing yoga, creating art, as bedtime music etc. (*Headphones and earbuds are highly recommended.*) Photo Credit: Alfred Leung, Unsplash
