Welcome to this inner child healing meditation by the Soul Gym.
In this meditation we will be travelling back into your childhood and meeting your inner child.
As this is part of your psyche that you may not access very often,
You may find some strong emotions rising to the surface.
Remember that you are safe and that your body is supporting you.
So allow your full experience in whatever form it arises.
You may feel some sadness,
Anger or anxiety.
But just remember that these emotions are rising to the surface because they want to be released.
So let's begin.
Whenever you're ready,
Get into a comfortable position.
Start to settle into your seat and feel the weight of your body grounding you.
Allow yourself to sink deeper and deeper into your seat.
Bring your full attention to the place where your body meets your seat.
And just notice how supported you are.
Now begin to connect to your breath.
Taking a deep breath in all the way into your belly and releasing slowly through your mouth.
And now taking another deep breath in and out,
Watching your belly rise and fall as you do so.
And another,
Noticing how with each breath you feel calmer,
Lighter and more connected to yourself.
Now I want you to imagine that you're looking at a movie screen and on it is a scene of you as a child.
So just take a moment to access a memory and allow yourself to bring that to mind.
Now I want you to notice the little details.
Where is the scene taking place?
Do you recognize it?
Are you inside or outside?
And how old is this child in front of you?
What are they wearing?
What are they doing?
I want you to just take a moment and watch the scene from a distance and really take it in.
Take in the child that you are viewing.
Now I want you,
Present day you,
To imagine walking into this scene as if you were on a movie set.
And I want you to approach this younger you.
Go and sit by them or in front of them and take their hand in yours.
Now take another moment together with this child to take in your surroundings.
What is happening in front of you?
Who else is there?
Take a moment to notice what they look like.
What are they doing?
What are they saying?
How are they behaving?
Now just take a moment and notice how it feels to be here with this child and in response to what is going on around you.
Notice what sensations are arising in your body.
Focus on your breath to calm any energy you might feel in your body right now.
Inhale deeply and exhale slowly.
Feel your body calm and know that you are safe.
Now turn to this child.
Look them in the eyes.
Really feel their presence and ask them,
What do you need?
What do you need that you are not getting?
And just give them a moment to respond.
Hold a safe and supportive space for them to share this with you.
Now I want you to think about what you can say to them in response to what they need.
How can you give them what they need in this moment?
If it's love,
Can you show them some love?
Maybe give them a hug or tell them the words they long to hear.
If it's to not be alone or to belong,
Can you tell them that you're here with them and that you see them and that you hear them and that you appreciate them?
Remind them of how safe they are now,
Of how you are keeping them safe.
Now I want you to bring to mind one quality about this little boy or little girl that you just adore.
And I want you to tell them what you appreciate about them.
It might be just how free-spirited they are or how they are a beam of bright light and that they have this wonderful energy that they bring into people's lives.
Maybe it's how creative they are or how kind and loving they are.
Whatever feels right to you,
Tell them now.
Tell them why they are so special.
And as you are doing this,
Let that feeling of warmth and love fill your body.
See if you can crack your heart wide open and show this child everything they need to be shown.
And now,
Giving them a warm embrace,
Start to say goodbye to them.
Let them know that they're never alone,
That you're always there with them and that you'll be back to visit soon.
Now I want you to imagine walking away from this scene and into a bright white light.
Into the future that you are creating.
The future where anything is possible.
Feel the warmth and vibrant energy pass through your body as you step into this light and access the great strength and power that lives inside of you.
Now whenever you're ready,
Start to bring your awareness back to your body.
Back to your breath,
Noticing as the air flows in and out.
And slowly back to the room that you're sitting in.
Slowly open your eyes and have a peaceful day.
