Hello,
I'm Ryan,
And I'm really glad you're here.
If you chose this meditation,
There's a good chance you spent a lot of your life worrying about losing the people you love.
Maybe you overthink conversations.
Maybe you replay text messages,
Searching for something you might have said wrong.
Maybe someone becomes quiet,
Distant,
Or unavailable,
And immediately,
Something inside you believes you're about to be abandoned.
Maybe you constantly need reassurance.
Maybe you give more than you receive.
Maybe you chase people who keep pulling away.
Or maybe you spend years losing yourself,
Trying not to lose someone else.
Before we begin,
I want you to understand something.
There is nothing wrong with you.
You are not broken.
You are not needy.
You are not too much.
What you're experiencing is a protective pattern,
A pattern that developed because at some point in your life,
Love didn't always feel safe.
You Love may have felt inconsistent,
Unpredictable,
Conditional,
Or maybe the love you needed simply wasn't there when you needed it most.
Because of that,
A younger part of you learned to remain alert.
It learned to watch for rejection,
To prepare for abandonment,
To recognize the smallest change in someone's voice,
Behavior,
Or attention.
That younger part of you wasn't trying to make your life harder.
He was trying to protect you.
But what protected you when you were younger can keep you lonely as an adult.
Today,
We're not going to fight that part of you.
We're not going to silence it.
We're not going to understand it.
Because healing doesn't begin when you stop feeling.
Healing begins when you stop running from what you feel.
Find a comfortable position.
Allow your hands to rest naturally.
If it feels safe,
Gently close your eyes or simply soften your gaze.
There is nowhere else you need to be right now.
Nothing you need to solve,
Nothing you need to fix.
For the next few minutes,
Allow yourself to be here with yourself.
We're going to begin with the breathing technique I use with my clients before we move into deeper emotional work.
We're not breathing to force your feelings to disappear.
We're breathing so you can feel safe enough to remain present with them.
Slowly breathe in through your nose for four seconds.
Hold your breath gently for four seconds.
Slowly breathe out for four seconds.
Remain empty.
Again,
Slowly breathe in for four seconds.
Hold for 4 seconds.
Slowly breathe out for four seconds.
Remain empty.
One final time,
Breathe in slowly for four seconds.
Hold for four seconds.
Slowly release your breath for four seconds.
And remain empty.
Good.
Notice what changed.
Don't search for something dramatic.
Simply notice your breathing.
Notice your shoulders.
Notice your jaw.
Notice your chest.
Notice your stomach.
Notice any place in your body that is holding tension.
You don't have to make the tension disappear.
You don't have to force yourself to relax.
Just notice it.
Whatever you're feeling right now,
Don't change it.
Don't fix it.
Stay with it.
Because this is where healing begins.
Bring your attention inward,
Not toward the person you've been worried about.
Not toward the relationship,
Not toward the text message,
Disagreement,
Silence,
Or unanswered question.
Bring your attention toward the part of you that becomes afraid.
The part that begins asking,
What if they leave?
What if they stop loving me?
What if I did something wrong?
What if I'm not enough?
What if I'm too much?
Don't analyze this part of yourself.
Don't judge it.
Simply notice it.
Maybe you experience it as tightness in your chest.
Maybe your throat becomes heavy.
Maybe your mind begins racing,
Looking for answers.
Or maybe it is simply a feeling you cannot explain.
However it appears,
Allow it to be there.
You don't have to push it away.
You don't have to tell yourself everything is fine.
You don't have to convince yourself that you shouldn't feel this way.
Stay with it.
This is your protective self.
It has spent years watching your relationships,
Looking for changes,
Preparing for rejection,
Trying to recognize abandonment before it happens.
It overthinks conversations.
It replays what was said.
It searches for meaning in someone's silence.
It tries to control what happens next.
Because uncertainty has never felt safe.
Your protective self isn't broken.
It learned that staying alert might prevent you from being blindsided again.
At some point,
This protection may have helped you.
But today,
It may be causing you to chase reassurance,
Abandon your boundaries,
Ignore your needs,
Or hold on to people who repeatedly hurt you.
Not because you are weak,
Because a part of you still believes losing them means losing love.
Instead of becoming frustrated with this part of yourself,
Become curious.
Silently ask your protective self,
What are you afraid will happen if you stop protecting me?
Don't force an answer.
Don't make one up.
Simply create space.
Maybe a word appears.
Maybe a memory surfaces.
Maybe you notice an emotion.
Maybe nothing happens yet.
Every response is welcome.
Now quietly say to this protective part of yourself,
Thank you.
Thank you for trying to keep me safe.
Thank you for caring so much for so long.
Thank you for doing the best you knew how to do.
You do not have to hate yourself for the healing.
You do not have to fight your protective patterns.
Every protective pattern began as an attempt to help you,
Even when that protection is now keeping you stuck.
Imagine your protective self standing in front of you.
You don't have to see every detail.
Notice whatever comes naturally.
Maybe this part looks exhausted.
Maybe it appears angry,
Guarded,
Or restless.
Maybe it continues looking over its shoulder,
Making sure no one is leaving.
Look at this part of yourself with compassion and gently say,
I see how hard you've been working.
I see how much you've been carrying.
I know you've been trying to protect me.
You don't have to carry everything alone anymore.
For the next few minutes,
Allow your protective self to rest.
It doesn't have to disappear.
It doesn't have to trust you completely.
It only needs to know that you are here,
Because now you're ready to meet the younger part of you it has been trying so hard to protect.
Imagine yourself walking down a quiet path.
There is no rush.
There is no destination.
You have to reach perfectly.
Just take one slow step at a time.
With each step,
Allow yourself to become a little more present,
A little more grounded,
A little more connected to yourself.
As you continue walking,
You notice a younger version of yourself nearby.
Maybe they are four years old,
Maybe six,
Maybe 10.
Maybe you don't see a specific age at all.
Trust whatever comes naturally.
There is no right or wrong way to experience this.
Before you approach them,
Simply notice them.
Notice their face.
Notice the way they are sitting or standing.
Notice what they seem to be carrying.
Do they look afraid,
Lonely,
Confused,
Rejected?
Maybe they appear as though they are waiting for someone.
Maybe they have been waiting for a very long time.
Slowly move closer.
Don't try to make them smile.
Don't try to make their sadness disappear.
Don't rush to tell them everything is going to be okay.
Simply be with them the way you needed someone to be with you.
Sit beside them.
Notice what begins happening inside your body.
Maybe sadness rises.
Maybe you feel warmth.
Maybe you feel grief,
Anger,
Or emptiness.
Maybe you don't feel anything yet.
Whatever you feel,
Don't change it.
Stay with it.
You are not here to escape your feelings.
You are here to listen to what they have been trying to tell you.
Silently ask this younger part of yourself,
What have you been carrying all these years?
Listen,
Don't search for the perfect answer.
Notice whatever appears.
A word,
A memory,
An image,
A sensation.
Or silence.
Silence is welcome too.
Maybe this younger part tells you,
I was scared.
I felt alone.
No one saw me.
I thought I had to be good to be chosen.
I thought if I made everyone happy,
They wouldn't leave.
I believed their absence meant something was wrong with me.
Whatever appears,
Receive it without judgment.
Your inner child doesn't need another person telling them how they should feel.
They need someone willing to listen.
And today,
That person is you.
Look at this younger version of yourself and gently say,
You don't have to carry this alone anymore.
I'm here now.
I see you.
I hear you.
You don't have to earn my love.
You don't have to perform for my attention.
You don't have to become perfect to belong.
Notice how your younger self responds.
Maybe they move closer.
Maybe they begin crying.
Maybe they look uncertain.
Maybe they don't trust you yet.
That's okay.
Trust takes time,
Especially when people have made promises and failed to keep them.
You don't have to rush this part of yourself.
You only have to keep showing up.
If it feels safe,
Gently offer your hand.
Don't pull them towards you.
Don't rescue them.
Simply allow them to choose what feels safe.
Maybe they take your hand.
Maybe they move closer.
Maybe they remain exactly where they are.
Every response is okay.
Take a slow breath together.
Slowly breathe in for four.
Hold for 4.
Slowly breathe out for four.
And rest for four.
This younger part of you isn't broken.
They are carrying feelings they were never taught how to process.
And today,
Instead of abandoning those feelings,
You are choosing to remain.
You are choosing to listen.
You are choosing to love the part of yourself that has waited so long to finally be seen.
As you remain beside your younger self,
Notice something important.
They aren't looking for someone perfect.
They have never needed someone perfect.
They have needed someone who would stay,
Someone who wouldn't leave when their feelings became uncomfortable.
And today,
That someone is you.
Notice your protective self nearby,
The part that has spent years watching,
Worrying,
Controlling,
Chasing,
And preparing for rejection.
Notice your younger self,
And notice that both parts are looking toward you,
Not because you have every answer.
But because you are here.
Present,
Willing to listen,
Willing to stay.
Take one slow breath in.
Hold.
Slowly breathe out.
And rest.
Silently say,
I will not abandon myself.
Again,
I will not abandon myself.
One more time,
I will not abandon myself.
Fear may still visit you.
You may still have moments when you overthink.
You may still worry when someone becomes quiet or distant.
Old wounds may still whisper that you aren't enough,
That you are too much,
Or that everyone eventually leaves.
Healing doesn't mean those feelings never return.
Healing means those feelings no longer get to control every decision you make.
Healing means that when fear appears,
You don't immediately chase someone else for safety.
You pause.
You breathe.
You listen.
You remind your protective self that it doesn't have to control what happens next.
You remind your inner child that they are no longer alone.
And you choose not to abandon yourself just to keep someone else.
Place one hand over your heart.
And if it feels comfortable,
Place your other hand over your stomach.
Feel the warmth of your own hands.
Feel your own presence.
Feel yourself supporting yourself.
You may have spent years searching for safety outside of yourself,
Searching for someone to choose you,
Reassure you,
Validate you,
Or promise they would never leave.
But today,
You began discovering that safety can also grow within you.
Not because life is certain,
Not because people will never disappoint you,
But because you are learning to remain with yourself,
No matter what happens.
Take one final slow breath in.
Hold.
Slowly breathe out.
Begin bringing your awareness back into the room.
Notice the surface supporting your body.
Notice your feet.
Notice the sounds around you.
Gently move your fingers.
Move your hands.
Move your toes.
Allow your body to return slowly.
There is no rush.
Before you open your eyes,
Remember this.
Healing isn't becoming someone new.
It's returning to the parts of yourself that have been waiting for you all along.
Every time you choose to stay with your feelings instead of running from them,
You teach yourself that you are safe,
Not because fear is gone,
But because you no longer have to face it alone.
You are with yourself now,
And that is where healing begins.
When you're ready,
Gently open your eyes.
Thank you for allowing me to be part of your healing today.
