
Suitcase Meditation: For Letting Go
The Suitcase meditation is a powerful meditation that guides you into a deep relaxation before taking you on a journey to let go of all the negative emotional baggage you may be carrying. Sit in or lay in a comfortable position.
Allow your body to settle and relax.
Bring your attention inwards as you draw in nice slow deep relaxing breaths.
And as you breathe in,
Breathe a feeling of calm and relaxation.
And as you breathe out,
Just release and let go of any tension or stress you're holding onto.
Breathing in calm.
Breathing out stress.
And as you begin to settle into this space and with your attention turned inwards,
Spend a moment now knowing that it's safe for you to relax.
You are safe.
As you continue this pattern of deep relaxing breaths,
Start to bring your awareness down to your feet.
As you bring your awareness down to your feet,
Start to become aware of how you can just focus on relaxing that specific area.
Using your breath to just bring down a feeling of relaxation into your feet and to remove any stress or tension as your feet become so wonderfully heavy and relaxed.
Now allow that feeling to start to come up into your calves,
Allowing your calves to just become heavy,
To let go,
To relax.
Feel as if your calf muscles are almost melting away from the bone as that feeling of relaxation begins to spread.
Head in now up into your knees and into your thighs,
Allowing those large thigh muscles to just let go,
To relax,
To release.
Coming up from the thighs and into your hips as you just allow your hips to soften,
To loosen,
To unlock.
Losing up from the hips and into your lower back,
Loosening and relaxing your lower back completely.
Coming around into your lower stomach,
Just let go of anything you're holding onto in your stomach,
Using your breath to relax.
Coming back round now into your back as you slowly and methodically allow all of the muscles that support either side of your spine to loosen,
To release,
To let go.
And as they loosen and let go,
Feel that wave of relaxation taking you further and deeper into a peaceful state.
Going those muscles up through your spine,
Across your shoulder blades and into your shoulders.
Breathing out any tension in your shoulders,
Releasing anything you're carrying,
Just letting go.
Going down into your arms,
Into your wrists and your hands,
Becoming so wonderfully heavy and relaxed.
Coming back up now,
Back into the shoulders,
Easing into your neck,
Releasing any tension in your neck,
Allowing your neck to become supple and flexible.
Going up into your jaw,
As you release any tension and just relax.
Spreading across your face,
All those little muscles that support around your nose and your eyes,
Just letting them soften,
Release,
Relax.
Smoothing across your forehead now,
As your forehead just lets go and relaxes,
Leaving your forehead serene and relaxed as it spreads into your scalp.
And every breath just takes you further into this beautiful,
Peaceful relaxation.
And as we focus on this beautiful relaxation,
I want you to imagine that you can picture the most beautiful light shining directly above your head.
This light is so bright and dazzling,
But it doesn't hurt your eyes.
You feel that it's warm,
Loving,
Protective.
As you focus upon this light,
It seems to dip down,
Touching the crown of your head,
Almost as if it can start to pour in through your head.
As you feel it start to pour in through your head,
It enters into your mind.
You feel your mind become very still and relaxed as it clears out any negative thoughts,
Any blockages and leaves you feeling calm,
Peaceful and clear of mind.
Feeling that light now further down through your head as it stops at your throat,
Filling your throat,
Clearing out any unspoken words,
Any untruths,
Any lies or hurts and leaving your throat feeling clear,
Free.
Easily being able to speak your truth.
As that light continues to travel down,
Stop in at the centre of your chest and here it clears out any hurt,
Any grief,
Any sadness,
Clearing out any emotional pain in your heart and filling you with a sense of peace,
Contentment and unconditional love.
Let that light continue to travel into your body now,
Stop in now as it reaches your stomach and as it reaches your stomach it clears out any tension you carry here,
Any blockages to you feeling self-confident,
Any blockages to you feeling that you can trust in who you are,
Leaving you with a sense of clarity and certainty,
Knowing you belong.
And just allow that light to travel further down now,
Taking it down into your lower stomach,
To the base of your spine,
Clearing out any insecurities,
Leaving you feeling safe and protected.
You take that light all the way now into every cell within your body,
Taking it down to the tips of your toes and the tips of your fingers,
Allowing your whole body to be filled with this beautiful healing,
Protective,
Soothing light.
And as it fills every cell you feel any stress,
Tension or negativity being removed.
And feeling at peace you start to push that light even further until that light starts to pour out of your fingertips and your toes,
Pouring out of you and starting to wrap around your body,
Putting you in a bubble of pure protective light.
And as you sit or lay in this bubble you feel that your entire self is totally wrapped,
Protected,
Loved.
You know that inside this bubble only negative things can be repelled,
That only things that can come to you inside this bubble are positive things.
And the only things you can emit from this bubble are positive things.
You silently say to yourself,
Only good can come to me,
Only good can come from me.
This bubble of protection enables you to go through your life protecting your own energy,
Keeping you safe,
Keeping you emotionally strong and resilient.
And you know that you can keep this bubble around you throughout your entire day.
Within this bubble I am safe,
I am protected.
And with this knowledge I want you to spend a moment now and I want you to imagine in front of you,
You have a really big oversized suitcase.
Really picture this suitcase,
What material is it made from?
Does it have zips and buckles?
Does it smell?
What colour is it?
As you picture this suitcase I want you to open it up and imagine filling everything that you are negatively carrying into this suitcase.
All the hurts,
All the let downs,
All the regrets.
Fill this case with everything that is weighing you down.
When your case is full,
Lift the lid and start to zip,
Buckle and fasten the case shut.
Once that case is fastened,
Bring your awareness back to my voice and release a nice relaxing breath.
Now I want you to use your imagination to picture yourself stood in a beautiful valley.
You are surrounded by greenery,
Trees,
Beautiful flowers and in front of you,
Just off in the distance you see the most beautiful shimmering staircase.
As soon as you see it,
You feel compelled to go towards it but as you are about to step off and make your way towards the staircase,
You look to your side and notice that big heavy suitcase.
Try to pick it up and walk forward but only manage a few steps before it digs into your hands and bangs against your legs.
You are using both hands and yet this suitcase is so heavy,
Filled with things that are weighing you down,
Keeping you trapped.
You look at the case feeling frustrated,
You take a breather and then try and pick it up once more.
Again you only manage a few steps before you need to stop and rest.
You feel so frustrated,
You look ahead at that beautiful shimmering staircase and you look down at this big heavy suitcase.
And then you have a realisation.
What if I didn't carry this case around with me anymore?
What if I just left it here?
It's an idea that you feel excited about,
Even thinking about it makes you feel lighter.
And so without a second thought,
You let go of the case and start moving forwards.
You don't even turn around as you lightly and easily walk through the beautiful valley along the gorgeous pathway surrounded by flowers,
Heading towards that shimmering staircase.
With every step you feel lighter,
Freer and you wonder why you hadn't ditched that case before.
You're no longer bound by things from the past,
You're free to move forward,
To let go,
To release and to forgive yourself.
And all of these thoughts just make you feel wonderfully light,
Strong and resilient.
You're almost skipping now as you get towards the shimmering staircase and at the bottom you realise that there are ten steps leading you up to your new life.
You take the first step,
Step ten.
You have this sense of excitement and anticipation of what life will now look like,
Now you're free from the burdens of the past.
Step nine,
You feel lighter and freer with every step.
Step eight,
Taking nice deep deliberate breaths,
Breathing easier.
Step seven,
Feeling freer,
Feeling happier than you have for a long time.
Step six,
Step five,
You can almost feel yourself giggling,
You feel so wonderfully light.
Step four,
Step three,
Free and happy.
Step two,
Coming back to your new life.
Step one,
Stepping back into your life now,
Back into you,
Feeling aware of your physical presence but feeling lighter,
Stronger and happier than you have for a very long time.
I am free,
I am strong,
I am happy.
Whenever you're ready,
Taking some nice deliberate breaths to bring you back to the present moment feeling content,
Light and relaxed.
