I sat on the mossy forest floor,
Tears full of anguish,
Fell as I sat on my knees,
Clutching my hand to my chest,
I exacerbated in between breaths,
Please make it stop,
I can hardly breathe.
In tear-glazed eyes,
I saw a man crouch down,
Then,
And extend a hand to me.
Normally I'd be terrified,
But somehow I knew the man before me,
Inherently,
Almost instinctually.
He led me through a forest path,
Much smoother than the one I had cleaved,
And as I followed this man deeper in the forest,
No fear had come to me.
He took me to a cliff,
And told me to approach the end,
And for the first time on our walk,
I doubted him and questioned if he was truly a safe friend.
He told me if I only would step forth to see the view,
I'd finally come to understand,
But me,
Being full of misguided pride,
Told him I was no fool,
And as far as my walking goes,
This was the end.
I looked at him with eyes full of questions,
And his eyes still full of love,
It struck me then in that moment that this visit was something special,
A divine gift from above.
How can I trust you,
So that I'll not fall?
My dear,
I've watched you your whole life,
Everything you've been through,
I've been with you through it all,
Still,
How can I trust you won't push me past my limits,
To a point I can no longer bend?
My child,
Do you earnestly believe I'd leave you all alone in this world,
With its suffering to fend?
In that moment,
He radiated love,
Patience,
And grace.
The love was so potent,
And out of this world,
It almost was hard to look at him directly in the face.
Jesus finally murmured then,
My child,
You already fell,
Me being here,
I'm saving you,
And am now bringing you back to full grace.
