It's perhaps when we start to try and find love for ourselves that we first start to recognize what a profound,
Deep,
And penetrating journey it is.
The exploration of the true nature of love.
You know,
If you're finding it hard to love yourself,
It doesn't mean that you are not worthy of love just because you haven't fulfilled your very high idea of yourself.
This is one of the reasons we have to let the idea of ourself go.
Because quite often we dream up an extraordinary,
Elaborate,
And high idea of ourselves and how we want to be or think we should be.
It's far from just being a simple and ordinary person who needs just to be at peace,
To know happiness,
And to feel and experience love.
You know,
Perhaps we've put so much pressure on ourselves and we've dreamed up the idea of who we think we should be that we gave ourselves no chance of feeling good enough.
If we are to expect that we're only worthy of love when we become a truly perfect human being,
Then we're going to feel and we're going to spend a very long time feeling unloved.
Love is not like that.
Love does not judge.
Love does not look upon someone in a state of suffering and go,
Oh,
This you are not good enough at,
And this you should be better.
It recognizes the pain that lies behind all of that.
And loves boundlessly and unconditionally in spite of our imperfections.
One of the reasons perhaps we don't behave as well as we might is because we fail to find love for ourselves.
So it's absolutely crucial.
We let go the idea of love is something I'll feel for myself when I'm a splendid human being.
Love is something we must find for ourselves in the middle of all our pain,
Because that's what heals our pain.
Try to remember that when you're sending loving kindness to yourself.
Everything is us.
We are everything.
It's a single process in the process of needing healing.
We have to look at it lovingly.
It's not enough just to reject it.
We have to look at it and embrace it with compassion and accept for what it is.
This all-encompassing,
Loving,
Appreciative sense of gratitude and humility,
Of acceptance and compassion for what is,
For all that is,
And for ourselves as well.
