Sit in any position and place your palms on your thighs.
Keep your eyes open and bring all your attention to your palms.
Relax your shoulders,
There is no need to tense your arms.
Simply feel the contact between your palms and your thighs.
Your eyes stay open but all your attention is in your palms.
Feel the warmth of your palms.
Feel the warmth of your thighs.
Feel the texture of the fabric or of your skin.
Notice whether it feels pleasant to touch or not.
Now,
Bring your attention to your fingertips.
Try to catch a subtle pulse and stay with it for a moment.
Feel it.
It might be a pulse,
A sensation of expansion or a gentle tingling.
Simply observe whatever it is.
Now bring your attention to your right hand.
Try to feel only the right hand,
The palm,
Index finger,
All fingers at once,
The center of the palm,
Feel how warm it is or perhaps there are other sensations,
Maybe some anxiety,
Maybe a faint restlessness in the hand.
And now bring your attention to your left hand.
All your attention is on the left hand,
Index finger,
Middle finger,
The center of the palm,
Feel all the fingers at once and feel the entire left hand,
Just sit with it.
And now both palms together.
Try to feel your palms through your thighs,
Try to feel your thighs through your palms.
Then,
Gently shift your attention to your breath,
Take a soft inhale and notice the cool air entering through your nostrils and on the exhale warmer air leaving.
Continue breathing and observing the sensations at the tip of your nose,
At your nostrils.
Observe with curiosity as if you've never noticed these sensations before,
As if by turning your attention here now you are discovering the entire Universe and as you sit here watching your breath begin to notice more the way your chest moves,
Rising on the inhale and falling on the exhale,
Observe that too,
See if you can hold both at once the sensations at the tip of your nose and the movement of your chest,
Perhaps you also feel the air travelling inward from the nostrils into the chest,
Notice that too,
Mark any sensation that arises,
Stay in it observing,
Quiet witnessing and just notice how even without closing your eyes you can connect with your body.
And if you have a possibility and if you'd like to,
You can close your eyes to dive deeper into these sensations.
Stay here a little longer or as long as it feels comfortable for you.
