Your spiritual or religious beliefs and practices may be one of the first places you turn to when the burdens of life get heavy.
But what do you do when faith itself feels like another heavy burden you've begun to carry.
A few easy,
Mindful minutes daily may help lift the burden and reconnect you with your center of strength.
With your source of the sacred.
I'm Angela,
And it's good to practice with you today.
Let's begin.
Settle into a comfortable position.
Alert,
Yet relaxed.
You may feel like closing your eyes or softening your gaze with a focal point.
Take a few easy breaths here.
As you begin to deepen your breathing,
I invite you to inhale through your nose and exhale through your mouth for the next four rounds of breath.
We want to keep the breathing slow and deep,
But easy now,
As we transition into a brief body scan.
Beginning at the top of the head.
Move your attention through your scalp.
And face.
And jaw.
And down your neck.
And across your shoulders.
And as you go,
Gently observe any place that's holding heaviness,
That burden or tension.
And just see if you can send a breath to that place.
Giving it permission to lay the burden down.
For the next couple of minutes.
Beautiful.
We'll continue this body scan just like this.
Down the spine.
All the way to the bottoms of our feet.
Finishing it with one last exhale through the mouth.
And now.
.
.
With your next inhale,
I invite you to breathe in one name or image or quality that connects you with what you consider sacred.
And with your next exhale,
Breathe out one need or request you have that would make your burden a little lighter today.
This is your breath prayer.
It is enough.
As you continue breathing in your connection with the sacred.
And breathing out your need for the burden to be lifted.
We'll take three more rounds of breath prayer together.
Your breath prayer will be with you as near as your every breath.
Whenever you need to feel a moment of relief from the burden.
And I'll be here to practice with you anytime you need support or guidance.
Thank you for joining me in this daily practice.
