The Gift of Patience Patience allows us to meet challenges peacefully,
Get along easily with others,
Accomplish long-term goals and enjoy life.
With patience,
We can handle bad drivers,
Computer glitches,
Without tearing out our hair,
Master a musical instrument or raise a child with sanity intact.
In childhood,
If we were treated with patience and raised in an environment where long-term effort is modelled and delayed gratification is valued,
We will tend to learn patience automatically.
But most of us also absorb a variety of negative patterns and beliefs that undermine our patience.
Some of these include fear of being punished or criticized for being too slow,
Fear of being seen as stupid if we spend too much time on something and fail,
Fear of falling behind in a real or imagined competition,
The belief that time is money,
Or any judgment against ourselves and others about being slow,
Incompetent or unintelligent.
As we grow older,
These patterns and beliefs contribute to a state of mind in which we constantly pressure ourselves and others to think and move faster and never allow ourselves to be comfortable with life as it is.
In the next segment,
I am sharing a guided meditation to uncover and release old programming and bring patience and peace into most of your challenging situations and all of your life.
To gain the maximum benefit,
You will want to work with this program on a regular basis over time.
To begin,
I would recommend you using it once a day for at least a week.
Then you might begin to listen every other day and so on.
Use your own judgment,
Be patient and make it work for you.
Thank you.
