Hello,
Beautiful soul.
Welcome.
This meditation is for anyone who has struggled to feel comfortable,
Safe,
Or at peace in their own body.
I created this meditation from a very real place in my own heart.
While I have a healthy relationship with food and am at a healthy weight now,
It was definitely a long journey getting here.
I know what it feels like to just want peace from all the competing weight loss,
Exercise,
And food noise we face today.
I know that true healing in this area begins when we stop criticizing and judging ourselves.
If judging and criticizing helped,
It would be a perfect world.
So wherever you are right now,
I want you to know you are welcome here.
This meditation is simply an invitation to pause.
Take a breath,
And to begin building a kinder,
More supportive relationship with yourself and your body.
Now take a deep breath and just bring all of your attention into this moment.
In case your mind wanders at any time,
Simply bring your focus back to the sound of my voice without criticism or judgment.
During our time together,
You do not need to perform in any way.
No need to hold your stomach in.
Just relax and let it go.
There's nothing you need to do to get this meditation right.
Just being here is more than enough.
I like to do something a little different that you might not have done before.
We'll be grounding ourselves to our body and to gentle,
Loving kindness for ourselves by giving ourselves a hug,
Rocking back and forth,
Cradling our face in our hands,
And gently stroking our face,
Forehead,
And hair.
This is to remind us how absolutely precious and lovable we are.
You deserve to receive the gentle,
Loving care and tenderness you would give to someone else without hesitation.
Today,
This is a gift you can lovingly give yourself.
I hope you'll give it a try.
It's really special.
It's actually something called havening that has been scientifically proven to be calming and healing.
So let's get started.
Put your left hand on your right shoulder and your right hand on your left shoulder.
And we're going to begin with what I call the body love prayer.
You can just listen or you can repeat after me.
I accept my body.
I forgive my body.
I listen to my body.
I care for my body.
And I love my body.
Take a deep breath and just be with these powerful words for a moment.
They're possibly foreign to you,
But that's okay.
Maybe you've spent years ignoring your body.
Maybe you've tried starving it into submission or stuffing your emotions down with food in an attempt to avoid them completely.
Or maybe you've been carrying a painful struggle with food for years,
Starting over more times than you can count,
And wondering if lasting peace is ever going to be possible for you.
I know it is.
Maybe you've become so disconnected from your body that you only notice it when you're hating something about it.
You are not alone.
Now take a slow,
Deep breath.
And know that your body has never been your enemy.
Your body did not set out to make your life harder.
It did not wake up one day and decide to betray you.
Your body has been lovingly carrying you through every season of your life.
Doing the best it could with the circumstances and challenges it was given.
It always adapted and did its best to protect you.
And it survived a lot in order to do so.
Your body's been trying to take excellent care of you for a very long time.
Now give yourself a hug.
Cradle your face in your hands.
Stroke your cheeks and just notice the warmth of your own touch.
Notice that your body is still here.
It's still breathing.
It's still carrying you.
Take a deep breath.
And just relax your hands.
For so long,
You may have withheld love from your body.
Because you thought criticism would motivate you.
You thought shame would change you.
But it never helped,
And it certainly never gave you peace of mind and contentment.
Today is the day we began anew.
Quietly join me and firmly say to yourself,
I am done withholding love and acceptance from myself and my body.
I am done.
Prioritizing others while ignoring my own health and my own wants and needs.
I am done.
Putting myself last on the list.
I don't have to be perfect and my body doesn't have to be perfect to be a top priority worthy of my time,
Tenderness,
Love,
And care.
Breathe that in.
Give yourself a hug.
Gently rock back and forth.
Cradle your face in your hands.
Stroke your face,
Forehead,
And hair.
Now imagine your body standing in front of you.
Not the version of you from 20 years ago or the version you hope to be someday.
But the body you're in today,
The body that brought you here.
The body that has possibly carried addiction,
Trauma,
Heartbreak.
Loneliness.
Or simply survival.
In your mind's eye,
Just look at this body,
Your body.
With honesty for a moment.
And now imagine softening toward it.
With compassion and grace for yourself.
Now give yourself a hug.
And repeat after me.
Dear body,
I promise to learn to accept you just as you are.
I promise to try and forgive you.
I promise to do my best to listen to you.
I promise to do my best to care for you the way you really deserve to be cared for.
And dear body.
Most of all,
I love you unconditionally.
Just as you are,
No matter what.
No exceptions.
Now take a deep breath and let those words sink in slowly.
Maybe part of you resists these words because you've tried to prioritize yourself hundreds of times before.
Maybe you've struggled with illness,
Injury,
Depression,
Or years of feeling trapped inside other habits you desperately wanted to change.
But none of that means you have failed.
It means you are human.
And can begin again.
Human stands for humbly understanding mistakes are necessary.
You're human.
No matter what your history with your body has been.
Today can be a powerful turning point for you.
You can choose not to give up on yourself anymore.
So give yourself a hug.
And I'm going to repeat the body love prayer again.
I accept my body.
I forgive my body.
I listen to my body.
I care for my body.
And I love my body.
Now gently stroke your face and hair.
You do not need to force yourself to believe this.
I'm simply asking you to open a new door.
To just open it a crack for today.
And one day.
You might just be surprised at how easy it is to believe it.
I love the imagery of the phoenix rising from the ashes of destruction with more strength and power than before.
It doesn't rise because the fire never happened.
It rises because something powerful survived the fire.
And that same power lives in you right now.
You can begin again today.
You have the power to.
You can drink more water.
You can take a walk today,
Even if it's only around the block.
You can nourish your body today without stuffing or starving it.
You get to create a new reality.
One small caring choice.
One small act of self-respect at a time.
You and your body are not beyond hope.
And I'm absolutely certain that your future is not defined by your past.
Like the phoenix rising from the ashes,
You can rise too.
Stronger,
Wiser,
More compassionate towards yourself,
And finally learning how to live in your body with dignity,
Love,
And care.
Imagine being totally present and at peace in your body instead of disappointed with it.
Imagine moving just because it feels good to be alive.
Imagine nourishing yourself because you know your health and well-being matter.
Imagine saying no thank you to unhealthy foods and feeling empowered instead of deprived.
Because in the end,
You know you'll feel better.
Imagine speaking to yourself with dignity and respect,
No longer using shame as self-abuse.
This future you wants you to know something.
It wants you to know that healing your relationship with your body is not about it becoming thinner,
More fit,
Or toned.
It's about finally loving and accepting yourself and your body just as you are and just as it is right now.
It doesn't mean that you'll never change or that it will never change.
But you'll end the war with it.
Now take one more slow breath.
And softly repeat after me.
I accept myself just as I am right now.
I accept my body just as it is right now.
I forgive my body for all that I've held against it.
I listen to my body and pay attention to its needs and to what it's trying to tell me.
I care for my body to the very best of my ability.
I love my body unconditionally.
No matter what.
No exceptions.
My body deserves all of my love and care.
My body deserves generous rest long before it reaches exhaustion.
My body deserves the very best nourishment I'm able to give it.
My body deserves movement,
Fresh air,
And sunshine.
My body always deserves to be met with gentleness and patience.
My body deserves kindness today,
Not someday when I meet some elusive prerequisite.
But today,
Just as it is,
And so do I.
Now take a deep breath.
Give yourself a hug and just savor all of this worthiness that is now yours.
Savor all of this worthiness that you may not have been giving yourself,
But that you've always deserved.
Gently caress your face,
Your forehead.
Your hair.
Deeply honoring your journey to be here today.
And it doesn't matter who might have told you that you couldn't succeed at losing weight or taking care of your health.
It doesn't matter who made fun of your body.
Criticized your weight,
Mocked your attempts,
Or treated your struggles like failures.
It doesn't matter who acted like you were weak because you kept trying and starting over.
Their opinions do not define your future.
And they do not hold any power over your ability to rise in strength and power today.
You are allowed to begin again as many times as it takes.
And there is nothing weak about continuing to try.
As a matter of fact,
There is something deeply courageous about refusing to abandon or neglect yourself ever again.
Do not give up on yourself.
Not now.
Not after everything you've survived.
Not when your life and your health are still waiting for you to show up for yourself.
You can rise slowly and still rise powerfully.
And as we come to the close of our time together today,
I want you to see yourself rising like the phoenix,
Rising from the ashes of shame,
Hopelessness,
From every moment you stood in front of the mirror feeling defeated and ready to give up,
Rising from years of comparison,
Punishment,
And self-judgment.
The ashes are not proof.
That your life is over.
They are proof that you have survived the fire,
And now you are ready to rise.
Take the strength of these words with you today.
Take your courage.
Faith,
And willingness to.
And let today become a brand new beginning.
A day to honor yourself,
Your body,
Your health,
And all of the life in you that is just waiting to be expressed.
You don't need to have it all figured out.
You only need to keep going.
The phoenix rises because something inside it refuses to die.
And that same power lives in you.
Now let's give ourselves one more hug.
Squeeze tight.
Caress your face.
Forehead and hair.
And if you're listening to this meditation at night,
Feel free to simply drift to sleep.
And if you're listening in the morning,
Slowly open your eyes and celebrate the dawn of a new day.
A day where you get to begin again.
And rise in courage,
Strength,
And power.
Thank you for joining me today.
Namaste.
