Wooden Spoon

A poor child sat quietly outside his small home, holding a worn wooden spoon as if it were something precious. He watched other children laugh and eat, his stomach empty but his imagination full. With the spoon, he pretended to share meals with invisible friends, smiling despite his hunger.
