Hi,

I'm Christof Lammeritz.

I'm a sound healer,

Yoga and meditation teacher here on Inside Thailand.

And I want to answer a question that I get asked very often.

What exactly is sound here?

Let me start with something you've probably already experienced.

Think about a song that really touched you.

Some that give you goosebumps,

Or how the sound of rain,

For example,

Instantly makes you feel calm,

Or how certain music instantly touches your emotions.

And that's the sound working on your body and your mind.

Sound hearing is basically taking this idea one step further into doing this intentionally.

Sound tuning is a technique where specific sounds and vibrations are used to slow you down.

To guide you into a deep state of rest,

Of relaxation.

It can help you to reduce stress and calm your nervous system.

And in this state of deep rest,

That's where your self-healing capabilities are working and where any kind of healing can happen.

In a sound healing session,

You typically lie down as comfortably as possible.

You close your eyes and just bring all your awareness to the sounds.

Just listen.

Mostly these sounds are created with singing bowls,

Gongs,

Tuning forks,

The voice,

Other instruments,

Whatever you see here.

And why is that so important?

When you're stressed or when your nervous system is in a state of alertness,

Long-lasting harmonic sounds,

Which are created by the singing pulse,

They can guide the brain into a slower brainwave state.

Often to a theta brainwave state and that brainwave state is associated with deep relaxation,

Meditation or during REM sleep.

In that brainwave state the body gets a chance to reset,

To heal basically.

And you don't need to know anything about it for it to work.

You don't need to do anything.

Yes,

I think you can do that.

All you need to do is lie down,

Listen to the sound that works its magic onto you.
