An Invitation To The Devas

These verses, chanted by Ajahn Anan, are recited regularly at Wat Marp Jan. This chant is traditionally used to invite devas (heavenly beings) to come listen to Dhamma and is often recited before Paritta (blessing and protection) chanting, but it can be chanted at other times, as well.

Samantā cakkavāḷesu atrāgacchantu devatā Saddhammaṃ munirājassa suṇantu saggamokkhadaṃ Sagge kāme ca rūpe girisikharataṭe cantalikkhe vimāne Dīpe raṭṭhe ca gāme taruvanagahane gehavatthumhi khette Bhummā cāyantu devā jalathalavisame yakkhagandhabbanāgā Tiṭṭhantā santike yaṃ munivaravacanaṃ sādhavo me suṇantu Dhammassavanakālo ayaṃ bhadantā Dhammassavanakālo ayaṃ bhadantā Dhammassavanakālo ayaṃ bhadantā
