Bringing my awareness to that exact pause,
That moment where I have a decision to either respond,
Right,
Or react.
And so based on past experiences,
My ability to pause is super needed,
Is super essential.
And I bring so much awareness to that.
So that is what today's talk is inspired by.
It's inspired by a real life instance that just happened to me recently.
So I wanted to come and share with you because it could have went a lot different from where it went.
Okay.
So I am sitting at the yoga studio.
I'm sitting in the class,
You know,
Vibrating with all the students,
You know,
Got some new people,
All the things,
Right.
And we're waiting on,
You know,
One person to show up and I'm just like,
Okay,
You know,
Class is about to start.
I'm just kind of,
You know,
Taking my time because I don't want to,
You know,
Start the class and then she walks in.
So I'm doing this whole grace period thing.
I don't necessarily believe in a grace period,
Just put that out there.
It's my husband that wants the grace period.
He's like,
Yeah,
Honey,
You have to,
You know,
He's like,
Yeah,
Give people about five minutes.
I mean,
I understand,
Like I understand that,
You know,
Lateness happens,
But I feel like personally that that whole grace period situation,
Like if I tell you,
Okay,
Your grace period is 15 minutes that you going to come at the 15 minute mark.
So if I tell you it starts at 6 p.
M.
And your grace period is 15 minutes,
You going to come at 6.
14 because I said the grace period was 15 minutes.
And so that is exactly why I don't like grace periods,
But back to the grace period that I was giving.
And so I'm giving this grace period.
I'm just talking to the students at the front of class,
Getting to know folks.
And then next thing,
You know,
I see her,
She's at the door and I said,
Hey,
You know,
Mind you,
I left the door unlocked because in my heart I knew she was coming,
Right?
And I said,
Hey,
And she goes,
Can you open the door?
And I was like,
Okay,
You know,
Like,
Sure,
I can open the door.
I mean,
It was unlocked.
And then I said,
No,
I think I might've said that,
I think I might've said like,
It's unlocked.
And then she was like,
Can you open the door,
Please?
And then I was like,
Sure.
And so my first thought was,
Why can't you open the door?
But I did not share that,
Right?
What I shared was sure,
Okay?
So for whatever reason,
She needed me to open the door and I was going to open it.
Come to find out,
She brought snacks for the whole class.
She brought everybody some bite-sized sandwiches.
It was so beautiful.
It was so beautiful.
And had I like been like,
Why,
You know,
Something could have happened,
Right?
But that was a beautiful day.
It was a beautiful moment.
It was a beautiful experience.
That pause,
Just being able to be realized in a space of pause,
Being able to be seen in spaces of pause.
So on the outside,
You all just know that on the outside,
I have a very great poker face.
So on the inside,
You know,
What I'm thinking about,
It didn't match up yet to the outside.
I'm very grateful for the ability to like see or listen and see the thing out,
Right?
I'm grateful for that.
Because in the past,
I didn't have that ability.
In the past,
What I did was just go full in.
Whatever I thought,
Boom,
Response immediately.
And my dad always used to say like,
I want you to think before you speak.
You don't think before you speak.
And I'm just like,
Huh,
What am I thinking about?
It's just speaking,
Right?
Of course,
It's my young mind talking,
But here I am,
Bold,
Beautiful,
And just on top of every opportunity to learn and to grasp and to grow.
So I hope that you can find a deep space of reverence in that pause.
Tell me about a time where you experienced a pause.
Tell me about a time where you did not experience the pause and you went all in and you were wrong and you spoke too soon.
Tell me about either of those instances.
I want to hear from you in the reviews.
The reviews are so special to me.
That is the way that we connect in.
And that is the way that you let me know like,
Hey,
Adi,
I really appreciate what you're sharing.
Or,
Hey,
Adi,
You know,
That's not really,
You know,
My jam or my style.
And so I appreciate everyone when they take the time to leave that review.
Just 30 seconds,
Go out of your way,
Just go the extra mile,
Because I'm always going to go the extra mile for you.
So I love you,
Insight Timer family.
You've been so good to me.
