ACIM Lesson 242 Prayer

"This day is God's. It is my gift to Him."
This lesson emphasizes surrendering the day to God's guidance rather than trying to lead our life alone. It acknowledges that we do not truly understand the world, and therefore attempting to direct our lives independently is foolish. The lesson encourages trusting in God's wisdom to make choices that lead us to Him, as He knows what is best for us. A Course in Miracles,

Lesson 242.

This day is God's.

It is my gift to Him.

I will not lead my life alone today.

I do not understand the world,

And so to try to lead my life alone must be foolishness.

There is One who knows all that is best for me,

And He is glad to make no choices for me.

But the choices that lead to God I give this day to Him,

For I would not delay my coming home,

And it is He who knows the way to God.

And so we give today to God.

We come with wholly open minds.

We do not ask for anything that we may think we want.

Give us what you would have received by us.

You know all our desires and our wants,

And you will give us everything we need in helping us to find the way to You.

Father,

I give today to You.

I come to You with a wholly open mind.

Father,

I do not ask for anything that I may think I want.

Father,

Give me what You would have received by me.

Father,

You know all my desires and all my wants.

Father,

You will give me everything I need in helping me to find the way to You.

This day is God's.

Nothing real can be threatened.

Nothing unreal exists.

Herein lies the peace of God.
