"It can be but myself I crucify," delves into the self-imposed nature of suffering and victimhood. This lesson teaches that when we experience pain or feel victimized, it is often a result of our own choices and perceptions, not the actions of others. It encourages us to recognize this responsibility and choose instead to forgive and release grievances, thereby freeing ourselves from the cycle of self-crucifixion and embracing the peace of God. A Course in Miracles Lesson 216 Review Lesson 196 It can be,

But myself I crucify.

All that I do,

I do unto myself.

If I attack,

I suffer,

But if I forgive,

Salvation will be given me.

Still your mind,

Relax your body,

Prepare for meditation.

I will rejoin in a moment.

Give these times of silence to your higher self,

Your inner teacher.

Your inner teacher instructs in quiet.

Your inner teacher speaks of peace.

Give these times of silence to the teacher who gives your thoughts whatever meaning they may have.

This thought I do not want.

I choose instead,

It can be,

But myself I crucify.

I am not a body,

I am free.

I am still as God created me.

It can be,

But myself I crucify.

All that I do,

I do unto myself.

If I attack,

I suffer,

But if I forgive,

Salvation will be given me.

Our silence arises as we put aside all that we think we know.

Our silence arises as we put aside all that we think we understand.

This thought I do not want.

I choose instead,

It can be,

Only myself I crucify.

Our higher self instructs in quiet.

Our higher self speaks of peace.

I am not a body,

I am free.

I am still as God created me.

All that I do,

I do unto myself.

If I attack,

I suffer,

But if I forgive,

Salvation will be given me.

It can be,

Only myself I crucify.

Nothing real can be threatened.

Nothing unreal exists.

Herein lies the peace of God.
