And today we're going to be doing a yoga nidra.
Or non-sleep,
Deep breaths.
Which is scientifically proven to help your nervous system regulate stress.
Starting by closing your eyes down.
And taking a slow,
Deep breath into the belly.
With a long exhale.
Notice if the body would like anything right now.
It's not often that we ask ourselves what we need.
But what does your body need right now?
Does it want to shake something out?
Does it want to adjust slightly?
Perhaps you'd like a hand on your heart or on your belly.
Just attuning to yourself.
You may not know what your body wants.
That's okay.
Experiment.
Try one of the options I just gave you and see how it feels.
And then as you're ready,
Sink into stillness.
Imagine that the thoughts slow down all on their own.
As if you could turn down the speed dial on thoughts on breath.
On this moment.
Right now there's nothing for you to do,
There's nowhere to be.
Simply allowing yourself this time to relax,
To sink in,
To relax.
Even just a few percent more of relaxation.
And now we're going to begin the yoga nidra.
I am going to.
.
.
Call out different parts of the body.
And your only job is to compassionately Lovingly,
Gently witness the various parts that I name.
Just bringing that body part into your awareness.
That's all.
Nothing else to do.
Noticing your forehead.
Bringing your awareness behind both eyes.
Into the jar.
Into the ears.
And allow the affirmation to sink in,
My body can soften now.
Awareness moving down into the shoulder.
Elbow.
And palm.
Just notice which arm you are drawn to,
The left or the right.
I can rest in the safety of this moment.
Now the other arm,
Shoulder,
Elbow,
Palm.
With each exhale,
My body releases tension.
Aware of your heart center.
The chest.
The middle of the upper back.
I am safe to slow down.
And now the belly.
Soft belly.
I trust that I am supported.
Gentle awareness of the low back.
The hips.
Noticing which leg you're drawn to first,
Notice that knee.
And foot.
The whole leg.
I meet myself with kindness and patience.
Now over to the other leg.
Hip,
Knee and foot.
Every emotion is welcome here.
Now a gentle awareness of the whole body.
Sinking into the surface beneath you.
My inner calm grows stronger each day.
Enjoying the bliss of this moment.
The breath supporting you in relaxation.
The body supporting you in relaxation.
And now in just a moment.
Getting ready to come back into this room.
Moving fingers,
Toes.
Bringing any other movement you'd like to bring into the body,
Maybe a gentle stretch.
Gently opening the eyes when you are ready.
