I'm Jonna and welcome to evening meditation.
We are getting ready to slow down for the later part of the day and enter the evening intentionally.
Gently close your eyes and find a seat that you can sustain for just a few minutes.
Begin to notice the breath.
Notice it as it goes through the nostrils on the inhale and on the exhale.
Notice the movement of the breath throughout the chest all the way down to the belly and notice if your hands are moving with the breath.
Notice that your body is moving.
Even in this moment of stillness there is some movement and in the afternoon as the day starts slowing down we're going to focus on letting your mind slow down.
So bring to mind one thing that happened today for which you're grateful.
One single thing.
No one yelled at you.
You still have a job and if any of those are untrue you brought yourself to meditation today.
That was a choice.
A kind choice for your body.
So one thing for which you're grateful and place both hands on your heart and I want you to feel the gratitude in your heart for something that's already happened today.
And let that soak in from the heart throughout the whole body.
This feeling of gratitude even if it was a difficult day.
There was something for which to be grateful and that gratitude will stay with you throughout the rest of the day.
Eyes still closed.
Let your hands rest on your thighs or wherever they're comfortable.
I want you to notice this this grateful body of yours even if it was hard to find gratitude.
I want you to notice that it's still moving,
Still breathing and also seeking some sense of stillness in this meditation.
This body deserves to wind down,
To slow down and get ready for the evening.
This body has already accomplished something today simply by breathing,
By being here.
We don't always have to strive to do.
We can also allow ourselves just to be and in this moment be with your body.
Ask it what it needs for the rest of the day.
Perhaps this moment is enough.
Perhaps it needs a dinner that will bring satisfaction or a moment to take your shoes off and let your feet relax or if there's still much to do.
Some deep,
Long,
Slow breaths while you're doing,
While you're doing what's expected of you.
We can even do difficult things with a sense of ease.
So whatever kind of afternoon you're having,
Do it with ease.
Let's take one breath together,
Inhaling and exhaling.
Gently open the eyes.
Thank you for meditating with me.
Have a beautiful evening.
