Rub your hands together briskly,

Feel the warmth building between your palms.
Now,
Place those warm hands over your face.
Cover your eyes,
Your cheeks,
Your forehead.
Good.
Just breathe into that warmth for a moment.
Now let's wake up your whole energy system.
Cross your arms over your chest,
Hands on opposite shoulders,
And tap right hand,
Left shoulder,
Left hand,
Right shoulder,
Alternating like a slow butterfly flutter.
Keep breathing as you tap.
This crossing pattern wakes up both sides of your brain and tells your nervous system,
I am organized,
I am ready.
Now,
Bring your hands to your collarbone,
Just below it on either side,
And tap firmly with your fingertips.
Breathe in as you tap.
And shake your hands out.
Take a breath.
Now,
Cross your arms again over your knees and tap,
Right hand on left knee,
Left hand on right knee,
Again alternating like a slow butterfly flutter.
And keep breathing as you tap.
And now stop,
Sit still,
Feel the difference in your body right now.
Feel the aliveness,
The buzz,
The wakefulness.
Take one final breath,
In through your nose,
And out through your mouth.
Let a tiny smile find your face if it wants to.
