Hi and welcome to the MediEffect.
I'm Maddie,
And I'm really glad you chose to spend this moment with me.
You might be here because something didn't go the way you wanted it to.
Maybe you made a mistake.
Or you wish you'd said something differently.
Done more.
Known better.
Or maybe lately it just feels like whatever you do is never quite enough.
Whatever brought you here,
Just know that you don't have to figure everything out right now.
For this moment.
You can simply.
.
.
Be here.
Let's find a position that feels comfortable to you.
You can sit up straight,
Lie down,
Or simply stay as you are right now.
And if it feels comfortable,
I invite you to gently close your eyes or lower your gaze.
Okay,
Let's start by taking in a deep,
Slow breath through your nose.
And gently release.
Take another deep breath in.
And as you breathe out,
Allow your shoulders to drop.
One more time.
Breathe in all the way.
And slowly let it go.
Relax your jaw,
Soften your hands,
Your fingers.
And allow your breath to return back to its natural rhythm.
Now,
Take a moment to notice what's here.
You don't need to change anything.
Or make the feeling go away.
Just notice what's coming up for you.
Without judging yourself for it.
It might be disappointment,
Frustration.
Embarrassment,
Guilt.
Or maybe it's that familiar feeling that you should be doing better.
And as you notice what's there.
.
.
Begin to notice the way you've been speaking to yourself about it.
The words you've been using.
The things you've been telling yourself.
Sometimes we expect ourselves to always know what to do.
To know what the right thing is,
To say the right thing,
To make the right decision.
To be productive enough,
Kind enough,
Confident enough,
Strong enough.
And suddenly,
Being human starts to feel like something we're getting wrong.
Something to perform,
Something to be good at.
But you are allowed to be a person who is still figuring things out.
You're allowed to have moments you wish had gone differently.
You're allowed to change your mind,
To learn,
To rest.
Or to have days where you simply don't have as much to give.
None of these things make you less worthy of kindness.
Especially in Europe.
Sometimes.
When we're right in the middle of something,
It can be difficult to see ourselves with the same understanding we would offer someone else.
So for a moment,
Let's create just a little bit of distance.
In your mind's eye.
Imagine yourself sitting across from you.
Not as someone you need to fix.
Not as someone you want to judge,
Just as another person who's having a hard time.
You can even quietly say your own name in your mind and look at that person in front of you.
What would you want them to hear right now?
What do you want to say to them?
Would you tell them that this one single moment defines who they are?
Would you tell them that they should have been perfect?
Would you speak to them the way you've been speaking to yourself?
Or would you remind them that they're human?
That one difficult moment doesn't erase everything else that's good about them.
That they can learn from something without punishing themselves for it.
And remember.
You're not the only person figuring out how to be human.
We all get things wrong sometimes.
We make decisions,
We light your question.
We have days where we don't have much to give.
But you were never supposed to be the exception to being human.
You're allowed to be you.
Take another slow breath in.
And gently let it go.
You don't need to change how you feel right away.
Maybe this moment can simply be about meeting yourself.
With a little more understanding.
A little more patience and a little less pressure to have everything figured out.
As you sit with that.
I want to leave you with a few words.
If you want,
You can repeat them quietly in your mind.
Out loud.
Or simply let yourself hear them.
I am allowed to be human.
I can learn from my mistakes without punishing myself for them.
I am worthy of my own kindness,
Even when I'm still growing.
Take one more deep breath in.
Slowly release.
Maybe nothing about the situation itself has changed,
And it doesn't have to.
Sometimes the shift is simply in how we choose to meet ourselves within it.
You can take responsibility without tearing yourself apart.
You can want to grow without believing that who you are right now isn't enough.
And you can be kind to yourself along the way.
Slowly begin to bring your attention back to the space around you.
Feel the surface beneath you.
Notice if there is any sounds around you.
Bring a little bit of movement back into your fingers,
Your toes.
And if your eyes are closed,
Whenever you feel ready.
You can gently playing at the moment.
One more thing before you go.
I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart.
For trusting me.
With this moment.
And I hope you can thank yourself for showing up.
I hope you carry some of the softness and kindness we've created here with you into the rest of your day.
Into the way you speak to yourself,
The way you respond when something doesn't go perfectly.
We're just into the next small moment.
Take care of yourself,
And I hope to have you here back soon.
