Transcript
In Charlotte Bronte's Jane Eyre James said.
Do you think because I am poor,
Obscure,
Plain and little,
I am soulless and heartless?
You think wrong.
I have as much soul as you.
And fours march on.
As Stoics we understand we are in control of our virtue.
We are in control of how we see ourself and how we protect our morals and values.
We keep them locked away in our inner citadel.
This is what charlotte is doing here she's portraying a character who is so determined and sure of herself.
That she refuses to compromise.
Even when.
.
.
Her heart is on the line.
When we consider how many distractions there are.
How many reasons we might have.
To compromise.
We have to be very careful that we are not doing it as a reaction.
And it is well thought through.
Thank you for listening.
