Welcome to this meditation.
This is drifting into sleep.
We're creating a safe space for you to unwind,
Relax and let go of anything that's weighing you down so that you can drift effortlessly into a peaceful sleep.
Take a moment now to get comfortable and make any small adjustments that you need to make so that you can be as comfortable and relaxed as possible.
This meditation is best listened to whilst lying in bed or out under the stars bathed in the moon's silvery light.
It's time for you to pause,
To breathe and gently return to yourself.
Take a slow gentle breath in and softly breathe out.
And again breathing in easy and unhurried and releasing the breath,
Letting the day begin to fade.
You can let go of all your responsibilities and your worries now.
Leave your to-do list and your emails behind you.
You can pick them back up tomorrow after a deep replenishing rest.
There is nothing you need to do now.
Nowhere you need to go.
The day is complete.
Feel your body resting,
Supported and safe.
Allow the surface beneath you to hold all of your weight.
Your body is light as a feather and you're supported and comfortable.
Take your awareness now to your face.
Gently relax your forehead.
Soften your eyes.
Allow your jaw to loosen.
Your tongue resting softly inside your mouth.
And let your shoulders sink downwards.
Your arms become heavy.
Your hands relaxed.
All of your muscles effortlessly relaxing now.
And take a slow breath in,
Feeling your lungs and feeling your belly rise.
And as you release the breath,
Let your whole body soften just a little more.
Letting go of any tension that's left in your body and releasing it out into the atmosphere.
If any thoughts are still present in your mind,
That's okay.
You don't need to follow them.
Just let them drift.
Like leaves floating down a quiet stream,
Let them float away from you now.
And imagine a gentle darkness,
Soft and warm and peaceful,
Like the quiet of night wrapping around you,
Holding you safe and secure.
And with every breath out,
You drift a little deeper.
A little softer.
Silently repeat to yourself,
I am ready to rest.
I am ready to let go.
I surrender myself to a peaceful sleep.
Feel your body becoming heavier as if you are gently sinking,
Supported,
Comforted.
Your breathing is slow and effortless.
Your body knows how to sleep.
It's been waiting all day for this moment and it feels so good to allow the relaxation to wash over your body.
There is nothing to think about.
Nothing to figure out.
Just drifting.
Floating.
If your mind wanders,
Gently return to your breath or the feeling of your body resting.
And you can choose now whether to wake up and carry on with your day or whether to simply allow yourself to drift away into a peaceful sleep.
